Staycation Series #6 – JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong
by Aude Camus

In this staycation series we have already been exploring boutique hotels (check our reviews of The Fleming and Page 148) and newly opened luxury properties (such as The Murray) so I thought it was about time to book us in for a stay at a landmark, a hotel which has been around for 30 years now. Pack your stuffs, tonight we are staying at JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong

Well, don’t pack too much, we ain’t going very far as this five-star hotel is located in Admiralty and easily accessible by both public transportations (MTR will take you in Pacific Place mall which is literally right under the hotel) and taxi. You are only a short minute ride from both Central and Wan Chai so quite a perfect location.

Arriving at the hotel quite set-up the mood: the lobby is huge, filled with ample natural lights (even on a very gloomy day like today) and boasting amazing view over Victoria Harbour. But hey, shall we take the elevator? Am pretty sure you are just like me, excited to discover our room with Harbour View

That view … probably the thing I like the most about this hotel! I mean, no matter where you look and whether you got a Harbour View or a City View, the view is quite fascinating! Definitely the highlight of this room and loving it that you can enjoy it without having to get out of your bed.

Also, if you’ve been reading my previous articles (if not, you’re just a naughty little thing) such as the one about my stay at Four Seasons Beijing, you know one of the first thing I check when checking-in a hotel room are the bathroom amenities and JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong definitely does rock this bit with Aromatherapy Associates’ beauty products. Can’t wait to run myself a bubbly bath!

I know the hotel is super conveniently located, making it easy to hit the streets of Hong Kong but we’re only here for the night so hope you won’t mind but I do feel like not leaving the place at all. Which shouldn’t be a problem knowing that the hotel offers an outdoor pool, which I was looking forward enjoying but seems like Hong Kong had other plans for me treating me to a full day of rain, a gym and no less than 7 dining outlets. Fancy a drink? Bar Q88got you covered with cocktails, champagne, an extensive collection of whisky and live band entertainment. In the mood for seafood? You wanna give a go to the daily fresh catch selections at Fish BarJW Caféand The Loungeboth offer international casual food and impressive buffets while Flint serves more steakhouse-inspired dishes. For something quick or a cup of coffee on the go, visit Dolce 88in the lobby. And last but not least, opened 30 years ago (together with the opening of the hotel) is Man Ho Chineserestaurant serving Cantonese cuisine. That’s a lot of food! Not to mention all the other options located nearby, in Pacific Place. Well, I do like to know that I won’t be starving!

Well, I guess that’s pretty much it … sad to hear I have to leave this view.
