Words by Aude Camus
If you’re a long-time Hong Kong Madame reader, you know it — I’m usually not in Hong Kong in August. I traditionally spend summer in France, but this year I’m staying put as I’m expecting a late summer baby. I’m not gonna lie, the back-to-back typhoons and black rainstorms have made it hard to skip the South of France, and I’ve been searching for comfort in food. After all, one of the perks of being pregnant is having a very valid excuse to indulge.
If you’re also in Hong Kong this month and looking to treat yourself, I have just the thing: from grab-and-go sandwiches dreamt up by one of the city’s most poetic chefs and a fiery Indian feast to an impossibly pretty tart collection and a one-night-only Green Michelin Stars dinner.

For lunch on the go — The Tastemakers series at LMO Freshly Baked x TATE Dining Room

If anyone can turn a takeaway into an art form, it’s Vicky Lau. The two-Michelin-starred chef of TATE Dining Room is the latest collaborator in The Landmark Mandarin Oriental’s Tastemaker Series (curated by chef Richard Ekkebus), and she’s bringing her East-meets-West elegance to the LANDMARK Atrium’s LMO Freshly Baked counter until 31 August 2025.
Expect a Shredded Chicken & Scallion Focaccia Sandwich (HKD78) that riffs on nostalgic chicken scallion oil rice, a Hong Kong-Style Sour & Spicy Borscht (HKD48) with just the right amount of heat, a bright Yuzu Sichuan Pepper Mushroom Salad (HKD78), and a tropical Mango Sago Drink (HKD48). Part of the proceeds go to MINDSET, a mental health charity — so your lunch is doing good, too.

For a fiery lunch or dinner — Chef Gurmeet Singh Bhamra at Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong

For a fiery lunch or dinner — Chef Gurmeet Singh Bhamra at Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong

From 15–17 August 2025, The Oberoi Mumbai’s Executive Chef Gurmeet Singh Bhamra takes over Clipper Lounge and Café Causette to mark Indian National Day.
At Clipper Lounge, it’s an all-out Indian buffet — think Thecha Tandoori Jhinga (tiger prawns with peanut, green chilli and coriander), Kashmiri-spiced lamb chops, Goan Pork Vindaloo, Awadhi-style baby lamb shanks, plus luxe touches like White Truffle Murgh Malai Kebab. Dinner buffet is HKD988 per adult (HKD588 per child), with optional free-flow from HKD588. Weekend brunch (HKD888) pares things back but still packs in the spice.
Prefer a more intimate setting? At Café Causette, a 2-course set lunch or dinner starts at HKD588, with mains like Amritsari-style quail or lobster in a tangy tomato masala.

For something sweet — Caprice’s Summer Tart Pop-Up

Pastry chef Astoria Koh of three-Michelin-starred Caprice is giving summer a sugar-dusted glow-up with a limited-time tart collection, available until 30 September 2025 at Gallery in the Four Seasons Hong Kong. Pick from Raspberry & Vanilla Custard (airy custard topped with jewel-like berries – my favourite one), Coffee Brûlée (slow-cooked with Blue Mountain beans for a velvety hit), or Chocolate Caramel Ganache (70% Valrhona with molten caramel). HKD128 each, or HKD338 for the full trio — dine in (plus 10% service) or take away (order online through Four Seasons Hong Kong’s eshop), and let August taste as sweet as it should be.
