Seasonal seafood at sen-ryo

Seasonal seafood at sen-ryo

I love Japanese food but I tend to be peaky about it. I want my sashimi to be so fresh that they still have that “taste of the sea”.
Working in Central, one of my go to place whenever craving Edomae sushi – fresh raw fish/cooked rice seasoned with vinegar or in other words the most commonly known kind of sushi around the world – is sen-ryo IFC. Their sushi and sashimi are just super yummy! But I got my little habits and usually always order the same things … it was about time to shake things up and level-up my knowledge of Japanese seafood which I happily did at the newly opened sen-ryo in Festival Walk (you gotta take the girl out of Central sometimes!).

Are you in the mood for a Japanese feast?
Kicking things off with Tsukiji Seafood Delight. Tsukiji ? The world largest fish market also known as Tokyo Central Wholesale Market. I haven’t been to Japan yet but Tsukiji is definitely on my list of must do for whenever (the sooner the better) I finally decide to book myself a trip to Tokyo. And so, about this seafood delight? Well, just imagine the yummiest Sashimi platter (9 types of seafood) with the freshest seafood directly imported from Tsukiji:
  • Scallops
  • Yellowtail
  • Bonito
  • Red Shrimp
  • Horse Mackerel
  • 4 seasonal seafood based on the catch of the day

Then pimping things up with Early Spring Seafood Delicacies :

  • Beauty Oyster, perfectly fresh and juicy

  • Mukai Yellowtail Sashimi, my crush of the day. A fatty and super flavoured

  • King Crab which I was trying for the first time (I know …) and loved for its freshness, light and subtle taste and thick texture. Definitely not the Breton crab I am used too but definitely also the kind of delight I could eat every day
  • Snow Crab with Miso, probably the most surprising dish and again a first time for me but I loved the super tenderness of it
  • Oster Pot with Miso Sauce was the dishes I was the less looking forward to trying. Hot oysters are definitely not something I love. But guess what, a wise girl has to changed her mind sometimes and I loved this  dish. A flavourful miso soup base, oysters and vegetables ranging from Chinese cabbage to mushroom … so comforting!

Ok that’s a lot of food I know! I guess you won’t have as much as I did on that day but if you wanna try it (and I am with you on that one) a little sake might help you make it to the end of the meal … Just saying.
Would be a shame not to try at least one of the three sake they have selected to enrich the Early Spring Seafood Delicacies experience, don’t you think?
