Vegan and Korean are not usually two words you would naturally put together. Right? For me, Korean usually equals bbq.  Not this time! The Joomak got it that you can be both a vegan and a Korean food lover and they recently revamped their menu to offer a vegan-friendly traditional Korean dishes.

Meat or seafood lovers, let’s not panic! They still got yummy options for you including the Lobster platter – Lobster, Sweet Oysters, Juicy US prime Beef and homemade kimchi cuttlefish.

But today let’s focus on the greener options. Wanna treat yourself to a Korean fav, the Hotpot? Go for the Vegan Prickly Pear Carbonara one made of refreshing soy milk soup base naturally colored with prickly pear. Prickly pear known to boost skin health, facilitate digestion and reduce inflammation … a super ingredient! This dish is both good for your health and Instagram friendly.

The vegetarian platter (HKD 208) - white fungus, iceplant, vegetarian cheese balls, vegan dumplings, pumpkin and purple potatoes – is also a yummy option. With these both, you should be happily and healthily full.

Still hungry? Or feeling like testing something different? Go for one of their vegan dumplings filled with corn, mushrooms and cabbage. Their anti-tumor white fungus, heat-clearing Korean pear, superfood kale and iceplant, goji, pine nuts salad is amazing. Or what about the Vegan Porcini Cheese Tteokbokki?

Feeling thirsty? Lucky you, they got a nice range of cocktails and mocktails from the healthy and alcohol free Energetic green (HKD 68) – kale & avocado – to the very festive Prickly Pear (HKD 158) - soju, rice wine and vodka, strawberries, pineapple, orange and lime. Run a lemon wedge along the rim of glasses, coat the rim with popping candy, pour the cocktail and sprinkle popping candy for more significant effect.

For a perfect ending, don’t miss the Black Garlic Latte, a gentle mix of Korean black garlic juice, garlic salt, charcoal and almond milk. Sounds weird? Give it a try, it’s actually delicious and super-healthy.

A surprising experience!
