Staycation series #2 - The St. Regis Macao

Ok, I know Macao is not Hong Kong so spending the night over in Macao isn’t properly staycationning but hey the ferry ride is not even 1h and it is just so convenient and easy to reach that – like it or not – I have decided to include it in the Staycation Series. And believe me staying at The St. Regis Macao is an experience you definitely wanna enjoy.

I am not surprised at all the hotel has been awarded “Best City Hotel – Macau” from the TTG Travel Award 2017 … as soon as you step in you feel like entering a different wold, a world of luxury and tailor-made service. Not at all into the gambling part? I am not either and believe me you can definitely spend 24H in Macao without even seeing a casino (actually you can easily spend 24h at The St.Regis without at all feeling the need of leaving the hotel). But if you do wanna give a go to casino, the hotel does have one inside plus is absolutely perfectly located at Cotai Central, just a footstep from all the major hotels and casinos.

Ready to embark on a journey of heritage, traditions and luxury?

Checking-in our St. Regis Suite … absolutely love the beautiful view of Cotai Strip! That suite is gigantesque … feel like I could easily spend the next 24h here just moving from the living room area to my bed and also spending hours in the beautiful and huge bathtub.

But hey, isn’t it time for a drink at The St.Regis Bar

Did you know that Bloody Mary was invented at St. Regis? In 1934 bartender Fernand Petiot introduced the “Red Snapper” - then renamed Bloody Mary - at the King Cole Bar in The St. Regis New York. Today each and every St. Regis in the world has its own signature version of this yummy cocktail. I do love those kind of stories, not you? Would be a shame not to try The St. Regis Macao’s interpretation: Maria Do Leste. Plus, it happens that Bloody Mary is my fav cocktail ….

Another thing that you will find in each and every St. Regis is a fascinating mural behind the bar. The one in Macao is stunning! Entitled Harmony it shows how Western influences and Easter influences have come together in harmony creating Macao’s Portuguese and Chinese heritage. Quite a fascinating piece indeed!

Oh and if you happen to be at The St. Regis on a Thursday, be sure to pop-by the bar at 6.30pm. You do not want to miss the Champagne Sabering session!

But enough drinking, let’s go eat something shall we? Well, won’t be a long way as we are just heading to the opposite end of the hotel lobby.

Welcome to The Manor ! On the menu tonight? Fresh oysters, prime cut meats and fine Portuguese cuisine. Oh my god, the Portuguese Seafood Rice Casserole with Lobster is an absolute must go for!

Well that was a lot of food! Plus a lot of cocktails! You know what guys? I feel like retiring to my suite and enjoying a long and hot bath plus a deep sleep (in one of the comfiest bed I’ve ever tried) but if you wanna gamble or party all night please go for it! I’ll meet you tomorrow at breakfast back at The Manor.

Happy morning! Look at that breakfast buffet … I mean isn’t it huge? Not that I am starving after last night Portuguese feast but whoa that buffet … would be a shame not to dig in! Plus, I got an exhausting morning ahead … just got booked-in for a massage at The Iridium Spa.

Ok why don’t you go and sweat out some calories at The St. Regis Athletic Club? Or go to the pool, I’ll meet you there after my massage.

The Iridium Spa is the highest spa in all of Macao featuring 10 beautiful suites (each one having its own bathroom and Jacuzzi). Hop just filling-in a few questions so that they can determine my signature gemstone and fully personalized the treatment to my needs. You know what? This personalized gemstone body massage was just heavenly and even had me falling asleep for a few minutes!

Well well, could go and do some shopping on Cotai strip but no, not today. I just feel so perfectly relax and not in the mood for facing reality right away. Let’s make this dream lasts just a little longer, not leaving St. Regis yet but instead spending the afternoon at the pool. Diving and swimming surrounded by some of the most iconic hotels and casinos of the Cotai Strip (and even getting a feeling of home when spotting the Eiffel Tower in the corner).

I can’t believe it’s already been 24h since we checked in yesterday! Time flies and now I feel like Cinderella … do I really have to leave my suite and go back to my Hong Kong teeny tiny flat? Well, guess I do! But you know what? Now I know that only 1h away from the 852 is the most luxurious heaven of all, and so do you! Can’t wait to be back.

Thanks St. Regis Macao for the warmest welcome.
