Hong Kong has been buzzing with new restaurants openings lately and I’ve been lucky enough to try many of those new places … some being hits others misses. One place I’ve been wanting to try since its opening is BEDU, a cosy Middle Eastern restaurant located on Gough Street and opened by the Meraki Hospitality Group, the same team behind Uma Nota (which I love for both the food and the vibes). Thing is, it’s sometimes not easy to find the time for a dinner out when you have average 4 to 5 dinner tastings/night events a week. When I heard there were launching lunch, I knew it was the perfect excuse for me to finally take the time to stuff myself with pita.

The place first, super cosy, very bright and widely opened on the street. Super welcoming in a nutshell. I’ll have to come back for dinner as I’d love to see how it is at night: rather caliente like Uma Nota or more romantic?

The “Eat. Sleep. Pita. Repeat” menu is available from Tuesday to Friday from 12 to 3 pm. I like it because it’s short (which for me means fresh and homemade compare to an extensive menu with multiple choices), yummy and straight to the point: a pita or a salad, a sweet touch and a refreshment.

The pita is definitely the star of this yummy lunch. A fluff perfection!
Shall we share two pitas and a salad? This way we have a chance to try more different dishes.

My fav of the two pitas? The Golden Chicken with cumin, coriander, turmeric and ginger and served with zhough labneh and fried almonds. So tasty! But the vegetarian Falafel, tahini, hummus and pickles is definitely a hit too!

As for the salad, we could have go for the super popular Herloom tomato fattoush one but I really wanted to try the special of the day with broccolis, pomegranate, toasted almond … slightly spicy, highly yummy.

The Homemade lemonade with orange blossom and mint is the perfect refreshment. God, I love orange blossom, it’s such a sweet yet delicate taste!

The dessert of the day (homemade desserts are available every day on rotation) was a surprising watermelon salad served with a homemade mint sorbet which tasted exactly like Moroccan mint tea. Addictive!

Well, I definitely have to be back for dinner but will also for sure be back for lunch!

Set lunch (pita or salad  or rice+ refreshment + sweet touch): HKD 140

Bedu launches weekend lunches

On weekends it's not about Pita anymore. Instead, you'll be treated to scrumptious dishes to share. Our favs? Beetroot and Mint Labneh (HDK 55), Baked Feta with Smoked Lemon and Thyme Honey (HKD 115) and Rack of Lamb sur Garlic Labneh (HKD 210).
