Staycation Series #7 Four Seasons Hong Kong

January 16th 2020

We’re in the midst of winter (a pretty warm and rather pleasant winter but sill) and I always find January and February to be rather depressing after the festive vibes of the end of the year and before the blossoming of spring. But there is no way I am gonna let myself be all gloomy, that’s not the kind of mood I wanna set for the year ahead, and instead working hard on treating myself and indulging. And what better way to treat yourself and let go of your daily routine than a cheeky staycation?

Told you, I’m in the mood for indulgence so let’s go for something extra. I’m thinking Five Stars, floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic views of the Victoria Harbour and highest number of Michelin Stars (8) under one roof … so, what do you say? I am indeed speaking of the Four Seasons Hong Kong.

I love everything about the hotel: it’s perfect Central location, its iconic view over the harbour, panoramic view which you can enjoy from the infinity pool, its award-winning spa offering some of the best facials in town in partnership with French brand Biologique Recherche (rediscover why we love the Biologique Recherche’s facials at Four Seasons spas) and its Michelin-starred food and beverage offering including my absolute fav Caprice (Rediscover our interview of Chef Guillaume Galliot).

Speaking of Caprice, wouldn’t a three Michelin Star lunch be a perfect way to kick off our little indulgent staycation?

I do love the restaurant at night but there’s definitely something very sassy about enjoying a long leisury lunch by the window, looking at boats crossing the harbour while you dig in Chef Guillaume’s signature delicacies. Make sure and save just a bit of appetite for Pastry Chef Vivien Sonzogni’s sweet treats, they also are to die for. Gosh, I haven’t realised we’ve been here for already 3h! I have to say I am a bit tipsy after this long lunch and its wine pairing and I do feel like pushing the indulgence even further. Should we go for a mid/late afternoon drink at Blue Bar ? I wouldn’t say no to a signature Martini. Nothing like watching the sun setting down and the light turns gold before dark with a chic cocktail in hands.

Well, I do believe it is now time to discover our Harbour View room

And that view definitely is something! On your right the central harbourfront and its iconic wheel, on your left the immensity of the sea and right in front unobstructed view of Kowloon. I still have one hour or so before the Symphony of Lights sets the harbour ablaze and I feel like spending it in a nice bubbly bath. I can’t never say no to a marble bathroom and a huge bathtub, especially when it comes with whirlpool option! Oh and a little tv right on top of the bathtub … well, that’s it, you won’t her for me for the next 60 min. You might wanna take this opportunity to check the 24-hour Fitness Centre, enjoy a (another one) drink on the pool terrace or take a dip.

Take your time, I’m busy pampering with the L’Occitane’s amenities.

What’s for dinner you’ll ask? Well, I am still quite full from our exquisite lunch and don’t think I can do a proper meal. Would you mind if we order in-room dining ? I mean, in-room dining with such a view isn’t too bad, right? I know we are missing out on the other award-winning restaurants of the hotel, Lung King Heen - the world’s first Chinese restaurant to be recognized with the coveted Michelin three-star rating – and Sushi Saito, but that just gives us a perfect excuse to be back soon. Right?

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m falling asleep. That king-size bed is so comfy!

I just had a perfect night and not ready yet to face reality. Wish I could spend the entire day in my fluffy robe … well I do know I’ll have to return my room in just a few hours but until then, I do plan on enjoying it and its view as much as I can. And that starts with ordering breakfast in bed! I’m just too lazy to get dress and get myself down to The Lounge this Sunday morning. Let’s see: decadent chocolate croissants, that’s a yes! Oh and this homemade granola is just so yum! Well, I’ll also have a few toasts with jam and a fresh fruits platter. The perfect start of the day!

Do I really have to leave? Well ok then. Just one last shout-out to the entire staff of the hotel: from the reception desk to the team at Caprice or those who brought us our room-service orders, everyone was perfect making us feel at home (I wish that was home!).
