Because traveling isn’t really an option at the moment, I have rounded up the best restaurants to enjoy festive flavours from all around the world without leaving Hong Kong. Today’s round-up is a rather local one with festive flavours from Hong Kong and Greater China.
 
 
Duddell’s

This December treat yourself to a Michelin-starred Cantonese feast at Duddell’s where chef Li Man Lung has prepared a 8-course winter solstice menu that will delight your tastebuds throughout the entire month with highlights such as the crispy suckling pig, always a favourite among diners at Duddell’s, or the stuffed king crab shell. And if you are willing to go extra, the chef will be cooking Christmas dinner and brunch. The first will also include the famous sucking pig and other dishes such as the baked whole lobster with cheese or the fired Miyazaki A4 wagyu beef while the brunch will be an indulgent dim sum affair. 
 
8-course winter solstice menu: in December. HKD 5,888 for 4 person.  
8-course Christmas dinner: from December 24 until December 27. HKD 1,388 per person with a glass of Ruinart Rose or a Berry Smash cocktail.
Christmas brunch: from December 25 until December 27 with seating from 12 to 3 pm or from 4.30 to 7.30 pm. HKD 650 per person with free-flow soft drinks, HKD 888 with free-flow alcohol, HKD 1,200 with free-flow premium. HKD 350 for children.

Hung Tong

Offering beautiful views of the Victoria Harbour and a contemporary setting, Hung Tong invites you to celebrate the yuletide season in your intimate little alcove or booth with a festive menu highlighting the best of Cantonese delicacies such as barbecued premium pork with maple syrup, braised bird’s nest with crab meat in pumpkin soup or fried rice with diced turkey and black pepper.
 
Festive dinner set menu: on Dec 24, 25 and 31. HKD 988 per person with a glass of Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Champagne. HKD 889.20 if you book before December 14.

The views from Hutong never disappoint and the restaurant provides you with the perfect setting to celebrate Christmas up in the stars. Throughout the month of December, spice up the festivities with the heart-warming Sichuanese dishes from the 12-course winter solstice menu such as the ma la crispy eel or razor clams steeped in Chinese rose wine sauce. Or indulge on the spicy steamed lobster with Hunan chopped chilli and black bean sauce and the juicy crispy skin chicken from the festive menu. And for a family celebration, you are invited to enjoy the Feng Wei Brunch with its array of dim sum and hot dishes and enjoy exciting traditional Chinese workshops and activities such as noodle pulling or fan painting.
 
And for the duck lovers out there, Hutong just unveiled an impressive new Flaming Peking Duck (HKD 418 for half / HKD 818 for whole flaming duck) for you to savoure. Air-dried for 36 hours and infused with Sichuan green chilies, star anise, ground black pepper and the restaurant’s homemade chilli paste, the duck is then roasted for 40 minutes and set alight, in front of you, with Chinese rose wine and rum. It is then carved tableside and served the traditional way, with handmade steamed pancakes.

12-course festive dinner: HKD 890 per person.

Mott 32

6 restaurants for a festive season infused with Chinese flavours
One of Hong Kong most famous Cantonese restaurant, Mott 32 is going grand for the festive season and introducing a sparkling and glittering décor that turn the dimly lit dining room into an enchanted Christmas grotto. The restaurant signature dish, the Peking duck, is also joining the festivities and from November 26 until December 30, diners will be presented with a Peking Turkey served three ways (each dish serving 6 to 8 people)*: the free range barbecue whole turkey, sliced and served with Pancakes, the shredded turkey salad with field greens, sweet mixed Chinese pickles, cranberry dressing and the minced turkey with prawn cracker, water chestnut, mushroom and bamboo shoot.
 
The Peking Turkey set is priced at HKD 1,880 (serving 6 to 8 people) and must be ordered minimum 2 days in advance.

A Michelin star awardee, Rún welcomes you in its elegant setting – a modern interpretation of a Chinese tea pavilion – to celebrate the festive season with an 8-course menu crafted by chef Hung showcasing his specialties such as the Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, also known as Buddha’s Temptation, a double-boiled soup with abalone, fish maw, sea cucumber, conpoy, bamboo piths, mushrooms, black chicken and sea moss.

In December, The Chinese Library invites you to indulge in the beautiful heritage setting of Tai Kwun with a 12-course winter solstice dinner menu featuring local decadent delicacies such as the drunken abalone or the roasted 45-day imperial Peking duck topped with caviar. Dim sum lovers will celebrate the festive season with the weekend all-you-eat dim sum lunch. And on December 24 and 25, chef Junno Li will introduce an exclusive 7-course menu infused with local and European flavours with treats such as the French quail and pork siu mai with salmon roe or the pan-seared scallop with poached egg.
 
12-course winter solstice menu: from December 11 until December 22. HKD 588 per person.
