When it comes to your make-up do you tend to emphasis your lips or your eyes more? I do love a touch of lipstick from time to time but can live without it while I would never leave the house without at least a bit of mascara. Especially now that we are wearing masks all the time, it feels like you have to say it all with your eyes. That plus being pregnant and about to give birth, meaning that I will very likely have absolutely no time to perfect my make-up in the next few weeks (but still wanna look good on pictures!), I thought it would be the perfect time for me to give a go to eyelash extensions. Nothing like a little self-care, right?

Located on Wellington Street, Xtreme Lashes  is a calm, little studio with glamourous black and gold vibes. Waiting for my appointment on the big comfy sofa and browsing at the eyelash extensions menu, I have a feeling I’m gonna be treated like a queen.

It all starts with a consultation with the lash artist for her to understand the kind of style you want. Whether you are looking for a natural result or want some va-va-voom lashes, she is here to guide you. I wanted something in betweem: something that would make my eyes look bigger, slightly sexier but without looking too much. I wanted people to notice there was something different but without being able to say exactly what. The consultation also aims at understanding a bit more about your lifestyle – do you have any skin issues? Which side do you sleep on (because it means the lashes on this side will very likely last a bit shorter)? What is your make-up routine? – to make sure extensions are right for you.

Now that I know which look I’m going for, I’m ready for my beauty sleep! All you have to do now is keep your eyes close while you’re comfortably reclined. The application process takes around 1.5 to 2 hours and I have to say I slept through most of it!

Is it painful?
Absolutely not. Not a tiny bit.

Do the lashes feel heavy on your eyes?
Not at all. You actually don’t feel the lashes at all and easily forget that you are wearing any. But have a look in the mirror, be amazed at how good you look and remember you are not wearing any make-up at all, just your extensions.

How long do the lash extensions last?
The lashes are said to last 4-5 weeks. After two weeks of having them on, I hadn’t noticed any fall and my eyes still look the same and as fabulous as when I left the studio. After two weeks, I went for a touch-up just to make sure the lashes will last as long as possible.

Does using extensions ruin your natural lashes?
Not if the lash extensions are applied correctly using safe adhesive to ensure that only the extensions will fall after a few weeks, not the natural lashes.

Would I do it again?
Yes. Definitely yes!
