The Optimist: A new Spanish restaurant in Wanchai

The Optimist: A new Spanish restaurant in Wanchai
After their Italian success, the team behind Pirata are still going strong, and have now dived into Spanish cuisine. Located in the same building of the Pirata, The Optimist recently opened its doors and takes up three of the first floors of 239, Hennessy Road. The bar is on the landing, while the restaurant is on the next two floors. The Optimist’s decor is elegant. We love the outdoor chic vibe of the bar with its resplendent greenery, and huge bay window allowing a flood of light into the space. It is there that we had our perfect lunch: Costing HKD128 for 1 tapa + 1 of salad or 1 sandwich + 1 dessert or 1 coffee.

We recommend the mushroom croquettes, which are to die for (don't even think of the number of calories!). The duck salad is not bad at all but we preferred the club sandwich and fries! After that, it would be unthinkable not to try the flan or the rice caramel. We’ll most certainly be going back soon with a larger group of friends for an evening of tapas, but this time, dining at the gorgeous rooms of main restaurant. What of you, when will you give it a shot?
