Sideways – strap into the driver’s seat of a Formula 1 race car

Ok, confession time. I’m a terrible driver. I’m actually potentially the worst driver you’ve ever seen. You think I’m exaggerating? Well just to give you an idea, it took me 72 hours and 2 attempts to get my license. I got it 8 years ago and am so stressed about driving that I haven’t drive more than 20 times since then and still managed to damage two different cars. I am actually so stress about driving than whenever I seat on the driver seat I start sweating like hell and would always pretend that I can’t drive when going on holidays with friends so that they don’t expect me to be one of the drivers. So see ... definitely the worst driver ever!

Imagine how I was feeling when entering Sideways Racing Simulator & Sports Bar, knowing that I was expected to drive a simulator and compete against 14 other drivers (the place being the only one in Asia able to race up to 15 drivers at the same time on the same track) and rip down a track at speeds exceeding 300 kmph. You know what, I feel like I need a drink to relax ... sticking to the bar part and staying as far away from the simulator as possible. God, I know I’m eventually going to have to go in but hey please let me enjoy a few bites and a beer before (of course, drinking and driving is a no go but hey it’s not like I’m going to drive for real). Well, there’s no further postponing, time for me and my sweaty hands to strap into the driver’s seat.

Sideways simulators are designed to authentically reproduce the real-life driving experience and are frequently upgraded with replica Formula 1 steering controls, heavy gear shifters and breaking systems.

3 – 2 – 1 go! Here I am hitting the circuit. I’m so into it that I can feel my arms cramping! I would definitely not say that I was a star at it but 1. I did not end last (ok, yes I was in the bottom three) 2. I’d actually enjoyed it very much! So much fun!

To me, this is a great place to host either a private or corporate event. Imagine booking the whole place for you and your friends, competing against each other, while enjoying food and drinks at the bar. Also thinking it would make a great activity for a teenager Bday party (you can’t drive their simulator before 14)!

Congrats Sideways for having me forget how stressed I am behind the wheel. You’ve actually made me enjoy driving and have fun, and I can tell you that wasn’t an easy task!
