Saint-Germain
The 6th arrondissement in Paris? No, Happy Valley! What luck! In this ever so slightly bohemian trendy neighbourhood that’s highly appreciated by Hong Kong’s French crowd, you won’t be able to miss a pretty pastel green shop window. You wouldn’t go there just by chance if you knew who is at the head of this new establishment. Jérôme and Olivier, owners of the inevitable and inexhaustible bistrot Pastis and the Boudoir bar, have opened a new “place to be”. It will come as no surprise to you: it’s a true success! Start off with a glass of wine at the bar (to set the mood and familiarise yourself with the surroundings) before heading over to one of the restaurant’s ultra-comfortable booths. “Isn’t life beautiful?” An unpretentious décor, nothing OTT but absolutely cosy and worthy of great Parisian “brasseries”. The pastel greens perfectly complement the furniture’s dashes of copper. On the menu? Pure happiness! We couldn’t resist the duo of prawns and scallops, accompanied by mint flavoured mashed peas. Saying it was to die for sounds familiar doesn’t it? Let’s just say it was exquisite. We also liked the sea bass with its risotto cake, the tuna, the truffle risotto and the thin apple tart (yes indeed, there happened to be a few of us ordering). A calm and friendly atmosphere, a place where life is entirely pleasurable.
