Feeling like treating yourself to a bottle (or more!) of the high-quality wines found at some of the most prestigious hotels and restaurant groups in town but at affordable price? Look no further than Cuvées, a young and dynamic boutique wine distributor offering a wide selection of cult, boutique and artisanal wines.

All the wines and spirits are stored in their very own state-of-the-art warehouse, where both temperature and humidity are closely monitored, to ensure optimal preservation of the wine (something not easy to deal with in a humid city like Hong Kong).

Joseph’s (Managing Director at Cuvées) favourite bottle from his stock

1. Chateau Coulon - Rosé AOP 2018 (Famille Fabre)
HKD 118

“I like this wine because it offers great value – it’s not from Provence, but is a Provence-style rose which has been very popular in the last couple of years. It's very easy drinking, can drink well on its own and is suitably refreshing for the spring / summer reason.”

2. Domaine Masson-Blondelet – Sancerre Blanc AOC “Thauvenay” 2017
HKD 240

“Again, another very refreshing option for the spring / summer season - this Sauvignon Blanc can be had on its own or with oysters, light appetizers and seafood dishes with zesty flavours.”

3. Quita Apolonia Belondrada 2018
HKD 178

“Of the 3 wines I have recommended, this is perhaps the most aromatic one with floral and "greasy" undertones that is representative of this particular varietal: Verdejo. This is perfectly well-drinking right now and can drink on its own or with dishes across the range - from light dishes to even slightly heavier meat dishes.”

Whether you are a happy ignorant wine drinker (just like me, I don’t know anything about wine but I can say “this one is to my taste” and “I don’t personally like this wine” which I find to be more than enough), a connoisseur, a collector or an investor, Msquare Wine’s team of young and dynamic wine experts and enthusiasts is here to provide guidance on how to best choose and enjoy your wine. They “do not only deliver the wine, [they] deliver you an affordable luxury drinking experience”. We love their approachable and friendly style.

1. Domaine Guy & Yvan Dufouleur – 1er cru Clos des Perrières 2016
HKD 450

« Guy & Yvan Dufouleur is one of the rare hidden gems in Burgundy region that is yet to be discovered by wine drinkers in HK and China. Introduced by a French wine friend, we are connected to the winery and are pleased to have the brand in our portfolio. With Dufouleur, you can find a nice bottle from Cote de Nuits to Cote de Beaune from just HK$180 from a Villages to HK$300+ for a nice Premier Cru. I am also being impressed by the quality of their wines which bring good price-value to wine drinkers.”

2. Domaine de Pignan – Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvée Floriane et Coralie Rouge 2015
HKD 480 (instead of HKD 520)

“I met Frederic Charvin, wine maker of Domaine de Pignan, when I was a wine student in Avignon. We were connected by chance and he was very helpful to guide us through the lectures on viticulture, vinification, tasting and insights in wine business world. I was impressed not only with his philosophy in wine making, but also his persistence in perfecting the quality of his wines through generations. I am happy that I have the chance to bring Domaine de Pignan to my home country and share with the drinkers here.
Domaine de Pignan is a family winery since 1855 and owns one the top and most expensive parcels (Pignan) in the appellation. With an average vine age of 60 years old and 3 hectares for 130 years old, Cuvee Floriane et Coralie is the top reserved cuvee from the winery and constantly rewarded high ratings from Robert Parker. “

3. Le Petit Cochonnet
HKD 480 for a set of 6 bottles (instead of HKD 720)

“The little piglet wines were an ideal to celebrate the birth of my daughter in 2019 Chinese Year of Pig. We bring the brand to HK as we find the wines with good quality, approachable pricing and a sense of humour! The full 6-Bottle Set, including a bottle each of Sauvignon Blanc, Grenache Rose, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, is a nice idea for house-wine or for beginning wine learners to taste different single varieties at lovely prices. Capsule design is great for keeping the wine for longer if you couldn't finish it at once.”

The Malted Grape

One click, our fav independent online wine shops to pour ourselves a glass of wine at home
Are you looking for something different? Something you’ve never tried before? Or maybe a wine from a lesser known region or appellation? Or you might sometimes feel intimidated when entering a wine shop, not sure what to look for and afraid of sounding silly because you don’t know much about wine. You are going to love The Malted Grape.

Created by Thomas, a Hong Kong born French lawyer with a passion for wine, this boutique online shop is on a mission to bring more options to Hong Kong customers while making the wine shopping experience easy and non-confusing. Their selection might be more limited than the one of other wine sellers but it’s because they only stock wine that meets their own in-house standards which include personally meeting the producers.

Oh and if organic wine is your thing (if not, why not give it a go?), then you’ll be happy to hear that most (but not all … because why would you wanna pass on a great wine just because it’s not organic?) of their wines are organic.

1. Chateau d’Estoublon – La Réserve Rosé 2018
HKD 169

“We have a great working relationship with Chateau d'Estoublon, and absolutely love the Chateau itself.  They strive to make the best wines they can, sparing no expense, and it shows through in the quality.  I'm not normally much of a rosé drinker, but this one is quite special, with lots of refreshing red berry fruit and delicate floral notes.  It's the perfect wine for the hot summer weather coming our way, just imagine yourself sipping a glass of this next to the Chateau's swimming pool in sunny Provence.  Heaven. “

2. Abbaye de Valmagne – Vitrail Rouge 2018
HKD 149

« Abbaye de Valmagne is one of our favourite producers, we could immediately tell how passionate they are about their wines and the history of their domaine (which has been in the same family for 8 generations now!) when we met them last summer in person for a tour of the winery.  The Vitrail Rouge is very special in that unlike many wines in its price bracket, it has some uncommon grape varieties (Morrastel) and uses some very old vines (Carignan) for a portion of the blend.  The result is delicious, and super easy drinking.  This is the wine I reach for automatically for "everyday" drinking.”

3. La Pèira – Las Flors de La Pèira 2014
HKD 368

« La Peira is our only non-organic producer.  We decided to import their wines anyway because they are simply too good to pass up: they are regularly listed among the best French wines out there, and once you try them, you'll know why that is.  It's hard to pick a favourite from their range, but Las Flors de la Peira is a stunning example of what they're capable of, it's an exciting mix between new world flair and old world elegance, and is just starting to come into its own after 6 years of maturation.”
