La Marmite

La Marmite
Edit - January 7th 2018: this restaurant is now closed

The topic of the day is not the British spread that tastes… how could we put it… rather peculiar! It’s actually the new 100% French place that Aqua Group has just opened in Staunton Street. We wanted to wait a bit before introducing it to you so as to be sure that the restaurant was worth the detour. There are so many restaurants nowadays that spare no expenses in their first few weeks of existence and then go downhill after that… But let’s move on because it’s not at all Marmite’s case. On the contrary! Since its grand opening the menu has been expanded and become even yummier. We tried out the set lunch with a gambas salad as a starter; then an asparagus risotto for one of us and a red mullet for the other. Perfect from start to finish. Well presented and incredibly tasty. The main courses aren’t too copious but it’s all for the best – you’ll have more space to enjoy the dessert! We went for the chocolate tart. Thin pastry and a delicious creamy filling. Yummy, scrummy! But you can also go for the cheese if you’d prefer to continue with a good old French savory dish! Let’s talk about the setting now. This place has a “Parisian Bistrot” feel to it: pastel green walls, a few old French posters from Aqua Group’s owner’s personal collection and lots of mirrors. Neither too much nor too little. Probably so as to not steal the spotlight from the place’s main focus: the food! To sum it all up: we definitely like this one!
