April 2010: opening of La Crêperie, a very Breton oasis on Queen’s Road East (Wanchai)
April 2017: celebrating seven years of crêpes, galettes, Breton apple cider in a nautical atmosphere and also the opening of branches in Sheung Wan and Causeway Bay.

Seven years in Hong Kong is definitely a milestone and a call for celebration. And what better way to celebrate La Crêperie’s “Permanent Residency” than with a feast of crêpes and galettes?

Lucky us, they just launched their new Afternoon Tea for the party to carry on all afternoon long. For those of you expecting posh tea and mini bites you got it wrong, La Crêperie is a friendly place with traditional food. Forget the mini bites and get ready for something more filling.
You like it sweet? You cannot get it wrong with the super pornfood stewed apple and salted butter caramel crêpe. You can also go very classic with the butter and sugar one (I deeply love this super simple but super yummy mix) or the Nutella crêpe. You are more the savoury type? A galette is what you need. Galette? A buckwheat flour pancakes with savoury filling. An old time classic is La Galette Complète, a perfect combination of French ham, egg and melting Emmental cheese. My mother is from Brittany and I can tell you I have been eating more than my share of Galettes Complètes when younger (actually still do, whenever I go back to France and spend a few days in my vacation house in Brittany) well the one from La Crêperie definitely tastes like the true Breton galettes: a slightly crispy pancake, a hot and melty filling … The ultimate comfort food if you ask me!

Oh and of course, if you are too busy for their afternoon tea, their lunch set remains and old favourites. Super yummy and homemade food with affordable prices, it is my go to place whenever I lack inspiration for lunch, want comfort food or need a little taste of home.

Psssst: you can also buy their homemade and fresh crêpes and galettes without any filling and take them back home to create you own recipes or throw a very Breton party. Here is my own little appetizer recipe: spread cream cheese and chives in a galette, roll it and cut it maki style. One minute, easy peasy the only thing you need is a fresh homemade galette.
Oh and if you ask in advance, they can also make you a jar or two of their killer homemade salted butter caramel. Just saying …
