High tech training at Body Express

What if I told you that I've found a new activity that will give you the benefits of 4 to 5 hours of conventional gym work, but in only 20 minutes?... I can feel that I have your attention!

So what are we talking about? We’re talking about EMS (Electro Muscle Stimulation) training in a brand new center that has just opened in the heart of Central: Body Express.

How does it work? First, don’t expect a gym and its usual equipment. You’re in a modern environment, where a trainer and a console are waiting for you to be… plugged. Before that, you’ll have to wear a specific outfit and be equipped with a jacket and straps, in which there are electrodes that will stimulate your muscles through the session. Once you’re in your ninja suit and after some explanation given by your personal trainer, you’re plugged to the machine and good to go! Guided by your instructor, you take postures that you have to maintain through the impulse current applied to your muscles, which creates a resistance. You’ll be challenged at an increasing intensity through the session, to get the best workout.

In everyday life our central nervous system constantly sends electrical impulses to control our muscles’ action. EMS uses this natural principle and intensifies this process to reach deeper muscle layers, hard to activate through conventional training. This helps relieving back pains too, by strengthening the stabilizer muscles, especially the core (hello flat stomach for junk season!).

Thanks to the possibility to target specific muscles groups, it’s also scientifically proven that the method helps athletes improve their performance, no matter what their discipline is. And this means, the training you get can totally be adapted to your personal goals, expectations or “problem zones”.

It’s a low impact training so very comfortable on joints. That being said, don’t expect it to be a walk in the park! You’ll feel your muscles work and will most probably be sore the day after (but isn’t it the proof you worked hard?!). The training itself is a very interesting experience, giving you the possibility to feel all the different muscle groups in action and being able to control the intensity on each of them.
