FISH SCHOOL: Fish in different ways

By Delphine

Meat lovers, move over! Here, fish is king (and shrimps are queens).

You have to ferret it out at the very end of a small alleyway behind scaffolding. But despite its hidden location, since its opening a few months ago, the restaurant is never empty.

We had a choice between the bar or the wooden tables, and opted for the bar, an excellent spot to observe the chefs embellishing the dishes (under the watchful gaze of a huge fish swimming in the opposite aquarium).

As for the menu, we were offered two choices, sharing delicious small bites, a mix of everything. Or going for the catch of the day, which is more than enough for two or three people (the portions were enormous). The fish is top quality and fresh  and can be marinated, grilled, stuffed, boiled, steamed, etc. There’s something for all palates.

It was not easy to decide but we finally opted for four small dishes for our starter, before trying the St Pierre catch of the day. The calamari salad was a bit disappointing but the grilled squid was simply perfect. We had a tiny vegetarian break, with a tomato and ricotta salad, a classic, but beautifully decorated.  It was similar to the  “Gargouillou” vegetables, which despite its strange name, was amazing. Our favorite aspect of the meal was definitely the St Pierre: EXCELLENT !

We couldn’t resist the dessert so we went for the strawberry and lemon sorbet to end our beautiful dinner.

Just a small downside though, the room is not very big, and has the potential to be noisy.
