November 21st 2016

Just because the weather is still pretty hot (and humid) and no snow is expected anytime soon (or ever) in Hong Kong does not mean we cannot get our share of Christmas festive season, right? I have been treating myself to hot chocolate, mulled wine and gingerbread already but nothing says Christmas quite like an Advent Calendar … This little guilty pleasure of opening a new window every morning and finding a new treats … so good! When it comes to Advent Calendar are you more the traditional chocolate kind or do you like to explore other kind of treats? Here is our top 5 for this year!

  • Pierre Hermé
For all the foodies around here! A beautiful calendar, shaped like a Christmas wreath w/ 24 little drawers full of exquisite and yummy Pierre Hermé surprises: a piece of chocolate covered fruit, a mendiant chocolate …

We love the beautiful story told by this calendar, the story of the Kingdom of the Sun and of the Moon – the respective lands of King Zénon, Queen Séléna and their children. Nothing like a good old Christmas tale to bring up the Christmas spirit!

  • La Maison du Chocolat
Fancying going the good old chocolate way? The yearly much awaited La Maison du Chocolat calendar is out and this year again we cannot wait to treat ourselves with the so delicious chocolates it contains! Not to mention how much we love the design of this 2016 calendar. Almost too pretty to open! No, just kidding … cannot wait for December to start, I definitely feel like treating myself with decadent chocolates.

  • Bonpoint
For those with kiddos! Don’t you sometimes get tired of spoiling your kids with ugly (let’s face it) Frozen, Hello Kitty, Cars (among others) goodies? What better time than Christmas to bring back old traditions?

If you ask me, no brand knows how to work the Christmas magic as well as Bonpoint ! Fairytale dresses, beautiful and unique toys … Why not surprising your kids with a treasure filled advent calendar this year? I cannot tell what I like the most, the calendar in itself, or all the little Bonpoint treasures inside … I sometimes wish I was still a kid!

  • diptyque
I’ve had this little Christmas tradition for year: treating myself to a decadent candle from diptyque Christmas Collection. This year, Le Roi Sapin (The Festive Fire Tree) it will be – the incredible smell of a lush, pine-laden forest steeped in the woody tones of resin, cedar and patchouli. So Christmassy!

Looking for the ultimate lifestyle calendar?  Look no further. The diptyque one is just the fairest of them all! A selection of their most iconic products including a 70g Le Roi Sapin candle and travel size products from their addictive beauty line.

  • Bookazine

Christmas season is a family time before all. There are already a lot of treats too share and some of you might not want to add a chocolate a day a day on top of that but hey, it does not mean your kid cannot enjoy the excitement of playing with the advent calendar every morning!

We love the vintage look of the calendar. A beautiful wooden toy with a poem on the back. Reading it will for sure become a treasured family tradition. Kids can pick a favorite design to place on the tree each day, following the numbered outlines to fill the tree right up to Christmas. They'll also love to switch, move, and rearrange the pieces to customize their very own tree countless times!
