5 sweet festive treats for the Christmas season

December 5th 2017

by Aude

One of the perks of the festive season (and god knows they are many) is that you get to treat yourself to as much food as you want without feeling guilty at all. Calories do not count in December (believe me if I tell you so). I am usually more of a savoury girl but when comes December I always feel like indulging myself with some sweet treats and this year makes no exception. I have round-up my top 5 of festive sweet treats for this year.

Of courses, all of those also make perfect gift ideas if you got a foodie friend or relative to treat.

Warning: what’s coming next will have you crave for sweet treats!

5 sweet festive treats for the Christmas season

  • Nespresso Limited Variations Coffees

In December, I want every single minute of my day to feel festive (what do you mean it is not possible) from dawn to dusk and it starts with my 7 am morning coffee. Lucky me Nespresso Limited Edition Variations Confetto is here to have me kick-off the day the festive way:
  • Variation Confetto Snowball, my fav, has nice coconut notes. Use it with coconut milk and you got the yummiest latte of all
  • Variations Confetto Orangette combines the bittersweet of orange peel and just a hint of chocolate. Sweet tooth will use it to make a very Christmassy mocha
  • Variations Confetto Licorice is the strongest of the three with a combination of spices and licorice candy notes

Even the colourful capsules designed by Craig & Karl, renowned design duo, are super festive. Love it!

  • Pierre Hermé

Always a winner when it comes to celebrate with a yummy and chic twist! Pierre Hermé ’s Les Adorables Macaron Collection uses the best and most Christmassy ingredients – caviar, white truffle, candied chesnut, foie gras – and is my top pick for a mid-afternoon cheer me-up treat!
  • Macaron Caviar Petrossian
  • Macaron Raspberry & Gingerbread
  • Macaron Hazelnut & Foie Gras
  • Macaron Infiniment Black Lemon
  • Macaron White Truffle & Roasted Piedmont Hazelnut Slivers
  • Macarons Chocolate & Foie Gras

5 sweet festive treats for the Christmas season

  • La Maison du Chocolat

I am not a chocolate addict but do love a very good one from time to time especially when it comes from La Maison du Chocolat. My plan this December? Buying myself a Starlit Night Gift Box filled with the holidays season creations - Brazilian dark chocolate ganache, kumquat-kalamansi, orange blossom & mara des bois, chocolate almond paste and creamy praline mendicant – and dipping into it whenever needed.

  • Regner Gingerbread on Profood

Anything that smell and taste more Christmassy than Gingerbread? Not sure! But I do find it difficult someone to find a traditional one.
This year, Profood is featuring Regner’s gingerbread – an Austiran brand - on its website and it’s a crush.
Keeping a Mix Gingerbreads pack on my desk, just to make sure I won’t go low on sugar (you never know!)

  • Perrier-Jouët Limited Edition Grand Brut Champagne

Well not properly a sweet treat it’s true but feasting on chocolate, macarons and gingerbread might have you feel very thirsty and if there is one thing you should drink in December it’s Champagne for sure.
What would I do if I were you? Go for the fresh aromas of Perrier-Jouët’s latest limited edition of its classic Grand Brut Champagne. Festive and chic, all I want for Christmas are bubbles!

Available at Watson’s Wine (HKD 398) and Enoteca
