Tried & Tested: Can a 30-minute RÖS'S Binary Premium treatment at High Society Skin Clinic help with stubborn fat?

Ten months after having my second baby, I'd say I'm in a pretty good place health-wise.
I'm back to exercising four to five times a week, usually a mix of yoga, Pilates, strength training twice a week and the occasional HIIT session when I'm feeling particularly motivated. I make a conscious effort to prioritise protein (or at least my husband does and he is the one cooking in our home), and generally stick to an 80/20 approach when it comes to eating.

Well... most of the time.

Some weeks look a little more like 50/50. I love good food, I enjoy a glass of wine and when life gets stressful, I'm the kind of person who eats her feelings rather than journals them.

And if you've ever had a baby, you'll know that even when the weight comes off, there are often a few areas that seem determined to stick around. For me, that's my stomach. Ok, I’m being 100% honest, I can blame it all on the baby. I’ve been storing belly fat for a few years now. It’s not terrible, but it’s just enough to make me feel uncomfortable someday (like you know these days when you feel fat, none of your cloth is nice enough and life is so unfair … thanks hormones).

So, when I was invited to try the RÖS'S Binary Premium treatment at High Society Skin Clinic , a non-invasive treatment designed to target stubborn fat while promoting circulation and drainage, I was curious.

Not because I expected miracles, but because I'm always interested in wellness treatments that can complement my lifestyle.

So, What Exactly Is RÖS'S?

The treatment is built around something called 448kHz diathermy technology. It’s a technology that has long been used in sports recovery and rehabilitation settings and is now increasingly finding its way into the world of aesthetics and wellness.

Unlike treatments that focus purely on heating the surface of the skin, RÖS'S works by generating heat within the tissues themselves. The idea is to stimulate circulation, encourage lymphatic drainage and activate deeper layers of tissue, including the fascia — the connective tissue that surrounds muscles and organs.

According to High Society Skin Clinic, the technology can be used both on the face and body to help improve skin firmness, support recovery, reduce puffiness and target areas of stubborn fat.

What interested me most wasn't necessarily the slimming claims, but the fact that the treatment takes a more holistic approach. Rather than aggressively attacking fat cells, the goal is to improve circulation and support the body's natural processes — something that felt particularly relevant as I tend to suffer from water retention.

The Treatment

Having tried a handful of slimming and body contouring treatments over the years, I arrived expecting something mildly uncomfortable. Not painful exactly, but not particularly relaxing either.

I couldn't have been more wrong. The treatment itself lasts around 30 minutes and feels more like a warm massage than anything else. s the therapist moved the device across my stomach, she explained that the warmth I was feeling wasn't simply surface heat. The technology is designed to generate energy within the tissues themselves, helping to stimulate circulation while working through deeper layers beneath the skin. Whatever the science behind it, the sensation was surprisingly pleasant. You can truly feel the heat from within, and it feels more like a therapeutic massage than a body-sculpting torture session.

The session is divided into two stages. The first focuses on warming and working through the targeted area, while the second is designed to encourage drainage.

And this is where things got unexpectedly fascinating. During the drainage phase, you can actually see fluid being released from the body. In my case, it appeared around my belly button — a slightly strange, admittedly not very glamorous sight, but also oddly satisfying. It was one of those moments where you feel like something is genuinely happening beneath the surface.

Did it work?

Before the treatment, the team took photos so I could compare the results afterwards. Don't worry, those photos will remain firmly private. Nobody needs to see me standing around in my underwear. But I will say this: I was genuinely surprised by the difference after just one session.

My stomach looked flatter, less puffy and more defined around the waistline. The therapist explained that part of the immediate change comes from reduced fluid retention and improved drainage, which would certainly explain why my stomach looked and felt less bloated afterwards.

Was it the equivalent of months in the gym? Of course not. But that's not really the point.
For me, treatments like this work best when viewed as part of a bigger picture. They're not a substitute for movement, balanced nutrition or healthy habits. They're simply an extra tool in the wellness toolbox.

The Verdict

Hong Kong summers have a unique talent for making you feel swollen, sticky and generally heavier than you'd like. Between the heat, and the humidity, it's not unusual to feel a little sluggish.

The treatment was comfortable, genuinely relaxing and delivered visible results after a single session. Whether you're looking to tackle a stubborn area, reduce bloating or simply give your body a little extra support alongside your existing routine, it's an easy treatment to fit into a busy schedule. And honestly, any treatment that lets me lie down quietly for 30 minutes while somebody else does the work already feels like a win.
