Sunday En La Boqueria, catalán-inspired brunch at La Rambla

If French and Italian food are now two things I’m perfectly mastering in Hong Kong, knowing where to go depending on what I am craving (the toughest part of it always being to decide what am I craving the most: do I want the freshest French seafood or am I in the mood for a super pornfood Pithiviers? Because based on that, the place I’ll be heading to will be different), the Latin food I have been missing on since moving here is the Spanish one. 
 
So, when I was invited to spend a Sunday En La Boqueria (editor’s note: Barcelona’s most famous food market) I thought I should give it a go.
 

So here I was, visiting La Rambla’s modern and luminous space overlooking the Hong Kong harbour for the very first time. Guys, bring on the tapas and the croquetas I’m ready! 
 
What’s the first thing which comes to your mind when thinking Spanish food? For me it’s jamon iberico.
 

I am just obsessed with jamon … And Sunday en La Boqueria actually starts at LA BARRA (the bar) where you can indulge on a buffet of super yummy jamon iberico, cured meats, Catalan ensaladas and bruschettas. A nice fresh start infused with Catalan sun and flavors. 
 
If tortilla is your thing, make sure to visit the eggs station. 
 
Tapas are then served straight to the table. Probably my fav part of this brunch. I mean, what is there not to love about Bikini, a jamon-and-cheese grilled toastie layered with black truffe, Jamon Croquetas  and Patatas Bravas. At this point, I am not even counting the calories anymore all I care about is: what’s coming next (and should I go back to the buffet for another round of jamon or would that be too much)?
 
For those of you who first associate Spanish food with Paella, and for those like me who are just keen on ordering everything that is on the menu, Paellas here are made to order and 3 options are available. 

Guests are also advised to choose one main dish to share between two from theTraditional Suckling Pig, the Josper Charcoal Grilled Turbot and the Wagyu Beef Cheek. It’s not often that I surrender when it comes to food but had to say no to the main … just so that I can have another round of tapas and jamon. Oopsie doopsie! 
 
As for dessert: you’ll be served something sweet straight at the table and will also be invited to check the desserts buffet. 
 
Was really pleasantly surprised with the quality of the ingredients selected by executive Chef Ferran Tadeo. I often feel like buffet brunch are an excuse to serve enormous quantities of food but with less regardance toward quality of the food but La Rambla isn’t like that. 
 
Oh and did I mention the free-flowing Veuve Clicquot Champagne (just a shame it's so expensive compare to other free flows)? I didn’t yet? My bad … I might be dizzy already!
