SCARLETT: the new cool & French place in TST

“You sure it’s this way?” ”Yes it is, promise, just a bit further…”. Indeed it is here, hidden away at the end of a street between Jordan and Hong Hum. However when we get there for dinner the place is packed. Damn, we probably should have booked!

Don’t worry, while you wait for a table to free up the Maître D sits you at the bar. Have a drink and a few tapas while you wait. We go to town on the warm crispy baguette with fresh butter. Mmmmmhhh… with our glass of burgundy in hand, we could almost give up on the rest and still be satisfied. But the cold cut platter that follows changes our mind.

Our table is ready, we go up to the floor above and are seated close to the open kitchen. A quick glance at the menu and we understand that we’re going to be eating French, typical French and only French. Burgundy snails, eggs Meurette, Rillettes, mussel mariniere, Nicoise salad, beef rib eye, onion soup, duck leg confit... All of France is here. Whatever the table next to us is having smells really good, it’s a tough decision. Finally we go for the pike fish quenelles and the steak tartar. All winners, no complaints. The portions are generous. The waiters are very busy but keep their smile. “A crème brulee or floating island to finish?” We’d love to but we’re really stuffed… actually… sure why not, in the end we go for a Apple tart fine to share. It was worth it.

We leave the place with a smile on our face (the bill was very reasonable and takes nothing away from the experience). New customers come through the door, the restaurant is always full since it’s opening a few months back. And well deserved!

The cherry on the cake? They also serve breakfast. Icing on the cherry? They also do take away roast chicken. Just to prolong our pleasure….
