Robuchon in Macau: Treat yourself to a 3 star restaurant!

November 10th 2011

Do you think your taste buds can’t be taken by surprise, turned upside down and transported anymore? Allow us to doubt it! All you need to do is treat them to a few exceptional dishes. For this, head over to Macao for a dinner at Robuchon. The restaurant has nothing to do with the Atelier in Hong Kong, it is much more conventional, if not a bit kitsch. But we wouldn’t have wanted anything else to enjoy the Chef’s gourmet cuisine. Where should we start? The bread! We know that it’s not good to eat it before dinner, but how could we resist? You’ll get to choose amongst the various homemade breads that are presented on a trolley: baguette, multigrain bread, bacon and mustard bread, cheese bread, apricot bread, tomato ciabatta and many more. To be enjoyed with the delicious salted butter from Brittany. We love the way it is served but we won’t say any more than that... We considered going for the Chef’s tasting menu but we preferred to order à la carte. For starters we recommend the "Truffe Blanche" (white truffle) or a duo of the latter and mixed Roseval apples with virgin oil, like a carpaccio with lightly smoked shavings of foie gras. A symphony for the palate! For the main course, opt for the Saint-Jacques scallops to continue on the white truffle theme or choose the "Kagoshima" beef if you are a meat fan. Do not miss out on the puree which is divine. How about some cheese before dessert? But only if you have a large appetite because you have to save some room for the dessert trolley! Here everything depends on your personal preferences. We let ourselves be tempted by the chocolate, caramel and peanut tart, as well as the mille-feuilles and the fruit salad (just to make ourselves feel good). Everything was perfect from start to finish. We were going to forget to mention the wine list! Or should we say dictionary as it is so incredibly complete. To give you an idea there are 23 pages of white Burgundy wines! Be sure to ask the sommelier for advice so that you make the right choice! We think we’ve said it all – it’s just down to you to judge for yourself now!
