ONE MILLION kgs in 24 hours…

March 8th 2016

 By Vanessa, our Fitness editor

They are a team of 24 athletes, 12 men and 12 women and they have decided to take up a crazy challenge imagined by Pinnacle Performance: lifting for 24 hours and reach as a team, the amazing number of one million kilograms lifted. And yes, as you can imagine… I’m part of them.

So I know what you’re wondering… Why?!
Of course most of us are pretty excited by the challenge, and we all love the fact that we’re doing this as a team, which gives to training a very different vibe as we don’t compete with each other. But the main goal of this crazy challenge is to raise money for the Pinnacle Foundation and raise awareness of its actions.

The Pinnacle Foundation in an NGO founded by Pinnacle Performance, working on developing Hong Kong’s underprivileged youths’ experiences by inter alia providing fitness activities, coaching and teaching in the safest sports related environment. Under the Pinnacle Foundation umbrella, with guidance and expert human resources from Pinnacle Performance, adequate support will be provided to ensure there is continuing development of education dedicated to fitness.
We couldn’t find any better motivation to train so hard.

The whole team has indeed been training very hard since November for this challenge and the few weeks ahead promise some serious challenges to face in our four sessions per week. We will rotate on the day around three loaded barbells to complete 45 000 kg per person, which represents on average 600 reps each.

To support the “Pinnacle Million” athletes and the beautiful cause, you can make a donation here and come around on the day to cheer us on!
The “Pinnacle Million” is a first in Asia and will take place at Pinnacle Performance (in Wan Chai), kicking off at 9am on Saturday 19th March (all through the night and ending on Sunday at 9am).
