When I first wrote about LALA Hong Kong , I called it one of those places that makes you want to linger — and a few months later, that still holds. But now, there are even more reasons to stop by. Chef Franckelie Laloum and co-founder Michael Larkin have just unveiled new lunch and dinner menus, and they’re exactly what your Soho dining routine has been waiting for.
At lunchtime, LALA’s HK$358 set menu is giving the neighbourhood’s midday crowd something to look forward to — and not just occasionally. Think of it as your new cantine française: comforting, consistent, and delicious. The signatures are all here — Parsley Garlic Frog Legs, Pâté en Croûte, and Beef Tartare with Miso Mustard — alongside daily specials that keep regulars on their toes.
Come evening, things take on a slightly more indulgent tone. The HK$888 dinner set unfolds like a celebration: Citrus-marinated Hamachi, Chilled Capellini with Truffle and Caviar, the iconic Vol-au-vent “LALA” (now with blue lobster), and mains like Roasted Chicken with Koshihikari Rice or Côte de Bœuf to share — all followed by house-made pastries. It’s classic French comfort, done the LALA way: refined, warm, and a little bit festive.
And if, like me, you love a drink with personality, the new bar programme deserves its own visit. From midday coffee on the terrace to Thursday’s lively “Thirst-Days”, where cocktails meet finger food and guest bartenders take over once a month, LALA proves it’s much more than a brasserie — it’s a mood.
Whether it’s lunch, dinner or drinks, it’s always à la bonne franquette — stylish, welcoming, and unmistakably Soho.
