Dim sum party at Maxim's Palace

January 13th 2011

You have friends coming over and you want them to experience a 100% hong kongese lunch? Or you are just a fan of dim sum? Then head over to Maxim’s Palace. Located in the City Hall, this restaurant is in itself an institution. It’s impossible to book a table, you have to queue like everyone else. A lunch at Maxime’s Palace is a reward for patience and hard work! So you just have to bear with it. Once you have settled down at a table, the trolley parade starts. The waiters come by and suggest different types of dim sum, fried or steamed, prawns, pork or vegetables. Each and every one of them taste good so don’t hesitate to try everything out, even if you don’t know what’s in there. And for dessert, let yourself be tempted by the egg tarts which are simply delicious. If you are lucky you could be seated by a window to admire the million dollar view of the bay. Otherwise just sit back and watch the waiters' parade and, it has to be said, the rather kitsch surroundings. Maxim’s Palace is a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds. Definitely an address that’s worth a visit!
