Launching this November, Emi Takes Hong Kong is a picture book by local author Jane Karen Ho that doubles up as a travel guide and takes your kiddos on a colorful and joyful journey around some of Hong Kong’s most iconic locations. Both a fun and educative book featuring maps, glossaries and quizzes, it introduces key cultural local traditions and is the perfect city-guide for little adventurers.

Launch event on Saturday November 9 from 3 pm to 4pm at Bookazine Exchange Square.

#2
La Maison Goutal is now opened on Fashion Walk

Iconic French Perfume House, Goutal, recently opened the doors of its first flagship in Asia: La Maison Goutal. The beautiful stores, capturing the Parisian elegance and sophisticated style of Goutal, takes you on an aromatic journey through the distinctive olfactive universe of this very unique Parisian Perfume House. We are highly obsessed with the so Instagrammable perfume wall featuring most of the house creations including signatures such as l’Eau d’Hadrien, Petite Chérie (Annick Goutal’s vivacious tribute to her daughter Camille) or Rose Pompon.

Shop 20.

We do have to confess feeling fond affection for Ophelia Jacarini, French artist based in Hong Kong. Not only because she is French but also, and most importantly, because we love her work both as an artist (under her own name, Ophelia Jacarini) and as an illustrator (under the name Merakilya – she is actually the inspired creative mind who designed our logo and all the illustrations on our website).

by Aude Camus

K11 Musea finally opened its doors early September and I couldn’t wait to visit this one of a kind culture-retail destination in the heart of Victoria Dockside. The part I was the most excited about? The retail experience! Here is a list of 5 shops that did catch my eyes (and took some of my money)

by alphabetical order

Atelier Cologne

Traveling to K11 by MTR, the signature Venetian blue of Atelier Cologne’s shops is the very first thing I spotted when existing the station and entering the mall. Loving the “Hong Kong” mosaic tile art on the store front, echoed by the artistic citrus mosaic wall located inside the store.
I have been a huge fan of the brand for a few years now, loving their elegant family of fragrances dedicated to citruses and always find their stores to be beautiful and welcoming with nice pop of colors.

B121 (Basement 1)

Fortnum & Mason

Well, Fortnum & Mason at K11 Musea isn’t exactly opened yet but I just can’t wait to the 312-year-old British brand to open this shop and restaurant! Already planning on stocking on some of the brand’s most famous products such as the timeless classic Royal Blend black tea, created in 1902 at the request of King Edward VII, or the brand’s biscuits and marmalades and indulge on some freshly baked in-store biscuit (a first for the brand).

Also, can’t wait to discover Fortnum’s 181, the set to be gorgeous dining room and bar on 1/F with beautiful views across the harbor. Fortnum’s most famous Afternoon Tea will be served each day accompanied by a live pianist

Exclusive to the K11 Musea shop: The Musea Blend, a mix of Keemun (Chinese black tea) and Yunnan Golden Buds (black tea) presented in a tea caddy designed by Chinese contemporary artist Zhang Enli.

Kapok

My fav concept-store in town continues to expand and I have to say I am highly obsessed with their K11 Musea flagship designed by the architects at Collective. The shop houses different brands such as O.N.S, a menswear brand from NYC, Maison Kitsuné, Veja, Maison Labiche or Alexa Chung and just like in the recently opened Wan Chai’s flagship, you’ll find a perfect mix of clothes, accessories, beauty products and candles (I can never have too many candles). You definitely wanna check Future Classics, Kapok’s own womenswear brand and a collaboration between Paris and Hong Kong.

Exclusive to the K11 Musea shop: the Astier de Villatte shop-in-shop greeting you on the left of the shop entrance.

How beautiful is this corner dedicated to the iconic French lifestyle brand?

Shop 205, 2/F

MoMA Design Store

I was looking forward to the opening of this one-of-a-king gift shop, an extension of New York’s Museum of Modern Art, and the biggest MoMA in Asia (there are only two others MoMA Design Stores across Asia, both located in Japan). You’ll, of course, find some gifts and souvenirs inspired by famous artists ranging from Monet to Andy Warhol (couldn’t help but buying the “Where is Warhol” version of “Where is Waldo”) but the shop is also filled with, highly desirable, design objects.

Exclusive to the K11 Musea shop: design objects and gifts exclusively created for Hong Kong will be showcased in the store and artists who have made their marks on the local art scene will be featured.

Shop 135, 1/F

Penhaligon

If you cannot wait for the opening of Fortnum & Mason for a fix of all-things very British, you should definitely check-out the Penhaligon shop, a perfume house holding two long-standing Royal Warrants. I am fascinated by the Portraits collection, a family of characters each represented by a perfume and each with their own story to tell.

Shop B125 (Basement 1)

The older I grow, the more aware I am about the importance of heritage and personal memories. I’ve been living in Hong Kong for more than 4 years now, and counting, and know Asia will always be part of who I am as an adult. How beautiful would it be to have a precious jewel symbolizing this important milestone in my life, which would have Asian heritage embedded in it, and which I could also pass down through generations?

I guess the above explains why Choo Yilin, jade specialist Singaporean brand embracing Asia’s heritage and history, resonates with me. Seriously, how beautiful is this Hydrangea Jade bead ring? But also loving other themes such as the Classic Jade collection and its very simple but how so elegant Jade Studs (isn’t jade the best color to enhance a beautiful summer tan?).

Hydrangea Jade bead ring: HKD 6,035

#2
abillionveg helps you find veggie-friendly meals in Hong Kong

I’m not a vegetarian (even though I used to be! Hard to believe if you are following me on Instagram and seeing my media tasting pictures) but I am perfectly aware that, for environmental reasons, I should reduce my meat consumption and really doing my best to do so. Not to mention I do have vegetarian and vegan close friends. The hardest part of it in a city like Hong Kong where eating-out happens on a daily basis? Finding the best plant-based dishes in town whether in vegan restaurants or in conventional ones. A useful tool? Recently launched abillionveg app: a mix of Yelp, TripAdvisor and Instagram which helps users to find and rank the best vegetarian dishes around them.

Hong Kong Madame loves: abillionveg is much more than a platform for reviewing dishes and aims at educating and inspiring people while having a positive impact at every step. For example, for every review you are publishing, you are collecting 1 USD which you’ll then be able to convert in donation towards one of the charities supported by abillionveg.

#3
RIMOWA has us traveling in style with its new colored collection

Tell me how you travel, and I’ll tell you who you are. As for me, I do like to think of my travel accessories as any other fashion accessories I would buy and love to distinguish myself by choosing statement pieces. Seems like the 4 new RIMOWA Essentials colors, inspired by aerial views of remote coordinates usually only seen from above (how cool?), were created for me. But which one to choose? Sage, reflecting the green shades of the Lake District in northeast England or maybe Slate, taking its hues from the chalky, gradient grey hues of Indonesian mines? Actually no, I want something more vibrant. If you are following me on Instagram, you know it: I got a thing for design objects, lifestyle products, coffee table books and limited-edition items. One of my fav things to do when visiting a country is to shop at museums stores. Real treasures troves! Imagine how excited I am to hear that MoMA Design Store, extension of NYC’s famous Museum of Modern Art, is set to open in Hong Kong this coming August! Design objects based on work by some of the most famous artists ranging from Monet to Andy Warhol, MoMA publications, MoMA exclusive products and limited-edition items developed for the Hong Kong store … Yes please!

MoMA Design Store
Opening August 2019
K11 Musea, Victoria Dockside, Salisbury Road – TST

#5
Cheese Club delivers premium French cheese at attractive price right at your doorstep

You can take the girl out of France, but you can’t take France out of the girl and I need my weekly fix of French cheese. And by cheese, I mean real cheese, like proper non-pasteurized French cheese, and not supermarket shit. Even better if it doesn’t cost me half of my salary (God, premium French products can be expensive here in Hong Kong). So where do I get my cheese from? Cheese Club , which organizes every month a group order of yummy cheesy delights from Europe. It’s super easy, all you have to do is register online to receive the order form, fill-in the form in due-time to be delivered the week after. Easy, peasy and affordable (thanks to group order economies).

Hong Kong Madame’s fav: Epoisses Berthaut, a strong, musty, wine smelling washed rind cheese.
