Do these words make you feel dreamy? Same effect on me. As a major fan of lobster, you can very well imagine how I clambered my way in search of this tiny restaurant, which contains only 7 tables. You’ve got to book well in advance. It was therefore with great joy that I was finally able to try it out, together with three friends, on a tiny table. Ready for our feast, we cracked open a bottle of champagne. As a starter, we had the wonderful spinach puffs. Next, we tried the mini lobster burgers. It was perfectly executed. We then diverted a bit and tried a plate of cold cuts and grilled vegetables, and it was absolutely delicious.

For our main, we first went for the classic lobster cooked in butter and grilled to perfection. A delightful experience. We had no choice but to devour it. The second lobster was cooked in spices and herbs, and we smoked it down. For those who like spicy food, go for it, but those like myself who prefer simplicity when it comes to lobster, it’s best to go for the grilled option. Everything was served with freshly baked bread, leaving no space at all for dessert.

We really had a good time, in a lovely, calm and relaxed atmosphere, and seeing the chef work from behind the bar was a splendid sight. The only snag was that it was a bit of a wait between each dish. In any case, we thoroughly enjoy our meal when it eventually came!

Bisque, Lobster & Champagne
1/F, 1 Lan Kwai Fong, Central, HK
(852) 2331 8181

Bill for 4 people: 3262 HKD
You can have a look on the menu

Facebook Page and Website

Ore-no Kappou : the Japanese restaurant in California Tower

After Townhouse we decided to go and check what was happening over at Ore-no Kappou, the Japanese restaurant in LKF’s brand new building, California Tower. On the 6th floor, you enter a whole new universe made of wood & lacquer and other traditional Japanese material. Chic and modern, we love it. It’s the first establishment outside Japan by the famous Oreno Corporation, and they went all out: Hidetsugu Okamoto, Michelin 2 starred chef of “Ginza OKAMOTO” will work in close partnership with the director and executive chef of the Ore-no Kappou chain in Japan. Rest assured, prices are quite reasonable. To see the Chef at work, choose to watch standing (stand-up eating customer available at lunchtime) or take a seat at the counter. If you’re a party of three or more one of the tables in the main room will do perfectly. There’s also a private room you can book with a very cool origami like sealing. That’s where we settled down to taste all their different signature dishes. We’d recommend the okra with sesame sauce, the melt-in-your- mouth sashimi, the grilled lobster with sea urchin sauce and the wagyu beef served on a lava stone. As for drinks, the sake list is longer than the wine list. We’ll let you decide what you feel like with your meal.
BRAZA : Churrascaria just like in Rio

      By Delphine

One for the meat lovers out there.
CHURRASCARIA are quintessentially Brazilian eateries serving up grilled meats on giant skewers (Rodizios). The only rule of thumb: feast, drink and indulge, and Braza ticks all the boxes. The concept: you first hit the buffet for a large selections of cold cuts, salads, hot sides and fresh fruits. Then starts the procession of waiters bringing all sorts of different firewood grilled meats that are cut in front of you: beef, chicken, lamb, sausages… whatever your heart desires. The meats are melt-in-your-mouth tender, perfectly grilled and extremely moreish. If you’re still hungry after that, you can go back to the buffet. If you’re really starving, they keep the skewers coming. When you’re finally stuffed, you flip over the red dot- as long as it’s green they’ll presume you’re still hungry. And if you haven’t eaten in 5 days, you can go for dessert, we never made it that far.
To wash it all down and let the Latino party go on, we ordered Caipirinhas, a perfect end to our Brazilian escapade.

BRAZA
3rd Floor, Grand Progress Building,
15-16 Lan Kwai Fong, Central
Site web : http://www.diningconcepts.com/braza/index.php
Tel: 2890 9268

Opening hours:
Monday-Friday: 12am-3pm / 6pm-11pm
Sat-Sun-Public holidays: 12am-2:30pm / 6pm-11pm

The Bill:
Lunch Menu: 118HK$ without meat/ 168HK$ including skewers
Deserts: 38HK$
Dinner: 388 HK$
Brunch: 238 HK$ (free flow wine and caipirinhas : +168HK$)

      By Delphine

What? A new restaurant with a panoramic view just opened in LKF? Quick, what are you waiting for! We certainly didn’t waste any time to run over to California Tower as soon as we heard the news, into the lift we go and up to the 23rd floor. We sit at one of the table right next to the enormous glass window, and start staring into space, the view is amazing. The drinks menu has a great selection of tea-based mocktails, which seem to be the house specials: hibiscus, vanilla peach, mango rosemary or even caramel pumpkin, it’s hard to choose. If you prefer cocktails, try the “welcome to town” , “mister charming” or the “Popcorn avenue”. And to go with it? Lots of different tapas, varied in size and inspired by different countries. It’s the same concept as Glasshouse in the IFC (also by the same group): Western with a touch of Asian, or vice a versa! Feeling like seafood? The Tom Yum oysters with lime should do the trick. Feeling like Italy? The truffle pizza with prawns and cauliflower will surprise you, and if you’re not feeling adventourous the classic tomato mozzarella one is equally good. Or go all out and try the deep fried foie Gras with mango sauce, the steak sandwich Korean style or even the duck noodles.
There’s something for everyone, to say the least. Whatever you’re feeling like!

More information: http://www.gaiagroup.com.hk/townhouse
The Bill: “bites” between 50 and 200HK$ depending on size.
