Hong Kong foodies know it, Sheung Wan is definitely the right neighborhood to stroll : coffee shops, street food , Korean burgers, organic coffee … But today I’ll go for pop and sugary. A nice white and orange shop, funky but not too girly, a bunch of sweet tartes on display and Thibaut, very French and chatty guy … Welcome at Tartes & Pop.

In the kitchen ? Lou, former pastry chef at Valrhona. His moto : there is no good choco with a bad cacao. Therefore, he only works with Valrhona chocolate.
In a nutshell : best Valrhona chocolate, tartes, traditional recipes with an Asian twist to please local’s taste buds… shake it all together and what do you get ? Some crazy little sweet pies. You want to go for the best seller ? Then Orange and Earl Grey it is. But as a French foodie I’ll tell you this, you’ll be a fool not to give it a try to the others : Apricot and Dulcey, Raspberry Chocolate, Gianduja Lemon, Banana Mango
I ate them all ! And love them all !

Pssst, here is a foodie tip : try to stop by not too late in the day or you may find out that the sweet little pies you are craving for are out of stock … yes, that’s the way it is when it comes to freshly baked products.

Tartes & Pop
2, Morrison Street, Sheung Wan, +852 6752 0749

http://www.tartes-pop.com/
https://www.facebook.com/tartes.pop

Yum, yum, YUUUM! It all began when one of us ‘innocently’ ordered a delicious frangipane- filled puff pastry pie. What a terrific treat for our taste buds it was! Perfectly balanced; not too heavy, not too greasy- just right. After such a good first impression, we could hardly stop there- you know us and our long standing love affair with all things sinfully sweet! So there we were, standing in the126 grammes shop, ready to devour everything in a flash…luckily we restrained ourselves took a good look at the décor first (yes, as well as tasting, we always take time to admire the interiors!) We liked what we saw: bright colours, an open kitchen…and an incredibly appetising display of fresh cream puffs! We spent some time chatting to Sandra, the owner, and then some more time hesitating over which treats to take away with us… We headed back to the office with our handbags full and a spring in our step! Were so impatient to know how they tasted that we gave everything a try there and then! The madeleines, the short bread biscuits, the almond biscuits are all delicious and the cream puffs are to die for- so round, so beautiful and finished off with sparkling colours - all of which help to make 126 grammes a sure winner! Tummies at the ready? Eat and enjoy!

126 grammes
42 Aberdeen Street, Hong Kong, +852 2886 1885

www.facebook.com/126Grammes
www.126grammes.com

The chocolate lovers we are could not resist to the Tony Wong’s pastries. Not a very good idea before the end of the year’s festivities, but what can’t we do for you! We had to sacrifice our diet for the best ladies! Trust us you will not be disappointed by the refined delicacies of this Hong Kong pastry chef. The crunchy nutty chocolate cake is to die for as well as the Chocolate Truffle. Yum yum, our taste buds loved it! We also liked the white & dark chocolate with orange mousse mix but we absolutely loved the raspberry Napoleon with its smooth pastry cream!
Or where to enjoy a real French breakfast. This is the place to be on Sunday morning! So whatsap your mates and meet in Kennedy Town (a more and more trendy area) on the new Bistronomique’s seaside terrace (ok, there is the highway in between but you can easily forget it). The place is nice, pleasant and friendly. You can watch the pastry chef working through the open kitchen! Take place at one of the teak tables outside with your favourite gossips magazine and put your shades on. Enjoy a proper Italian espresso, a rich and velvety hot chocolate, some exquisite buttery croissants, some pains au chocolat (to comfort your sweet tooth you can try the hazelnuts ones) and the sugar brioches are crazy good! You can always get a half baguette with some butter and jam. It is not far from being on a terrace in St Tropez. So if you are a big fan of an outdoor morning breakfast then Britonomique is your place!

  	Bistronomique – BOULANGERIE

Shop 1 G/F Grand Fortune Mansion

1 Davis ST Kennedy Town, HK

  	(852) 28 726611

  	boulangerie.bistronomique@gmail.com
P age Facebook
