By Delphine

Meat lovers, move over! Here, fish is king (and shrimps are queens).

You have to ferret it out at the very end of a small alleyway behind scaffolding. But despite its hidden location, since its opening a few months ago, the restaurant is never empty.

We had a choice between the bar or the wooden tables, and opted for the bar, an excellent spot to observe the chefs embellishing the dishes (under the watchful gaze of a huge fish swimming in the opposite aquarium).

As for the menu, we were offered two choices, sharing delicious small bites, a mix of everything. Or going for the catch of the day, which is more than enough for two or three people (the portions were enormous). The fish is top quality and fresh and can be marinated, grilled, stuffed, boiled, steamed, etc. There’s something for all palates.

It was not easy to decide but we finally opted for four small dishes for our starter, before trying the St Pierre catch of the day. The calamari salad was a bit disappointing but the grilled squid was simply perfect. We had a tiny vegetarian break, with a tomato and ricotta salad, a classic, but beautifully decorated. It was similar to the “Gargouillou” vegetables, which despite its strange name, was amazing. Our favorite aspect of the meal was definitely the St Pierre: EXCELLENT !

We couldn’t resist the dessert so we went for the strawberry and lemon sorbet to end our beautiful dinner.

Just a small downside though, the room is not very big, and has the potential to be noisy.

For more info: http://www.fishschool.hk/

Opening hours: Tues- Sunday: 18h-23h
Address: 100 Third St, Sai Yin Pun, Hong Kong
Phone: +852 2361 2966

Menu for two: 1,225HK$
1 squid and pomelo salad: 110HKD
1 charcoal grilled octopus: 150HKD
1 heirloom veggies Gargouillou 145HKD
1 tomatoes/ricotta/pancetta: 120HKD
1 John Dory for 2 (catch of the day): 550HKD
1 strawberries with lemon sorbet: 75HKD
1 mango/burned coconut ice-cream: 75HKD

Ursus Fitness: The Unconventional and Fun Training Gym

      By Vanessa, our Fitness editor

Ursus derived from the Latin word for “bear”, is also engraved as an image of a bear on the Ursus Fitness logo, a bit intimidating at first... But nothing stopped me from investigating! So on your befhalf, I pushed open the doors of the Ursus Fitness gym and tried for you the star class of the gym, the Bear Camp.

Conveniently located in Sai Ying Pun in a ground floor industrial-style space of 4000sq feet, you will find several unexpected equipment beside dumbbells, barbells, squat racks and a boxing ring.

The Bear Camp is a circuit class, designed for all, with a mix of both strength and cardio. It definitely gets the heart pumping and you get a very complete workout, but above all, it’s so much fun!
Those guys really don’t do it the conventional way, mixing regular equipment with things like tractor tires, sledgehammers, log bars, beer kegs or – my favorite – the “Conan wheel”, a metallic structure that you partially take off the floor and spin. And this is exactly how you’ll feel, like Conan the Barbarian, as strong and as badass!

Experienced and enthusiastic trainers are there to assist and challenge you the right way, allowing you to reach your maximum potential. Classes are designed for men, women and teens of all levels and all abilities. So why not try it with the whole family?

Ursus Fitness is a one of a kind gym in Hong Kong, offering a fun, friendly, community-based instruction to make sure you get the results you’re looking for. Definitely a gym with character.
You can go for the Bear Camp but also Strongman, Powerlifting, HIIT/Conditioning, Muay Thai/Boxing, and Poweryoga classes. The place offers great diversity and an opportunity to develop peak athletic fitness. So those willing to go for their max performance won’t be disappointed.

They also have “turbo” versions of their classes, a bit shorter (45 instead of 60 mins), ideal during lunch time, no more excuses!

The class drop-in is at HK$ 250, HK$ 200 for yoga, HK$ 180 for teens.
You can buy a package of 12 sessions for HK$ 1800 or unlimited 1 / 3 / 12 months for HK$ 2200 / 5900 / 21000.

Ursus Fitness
Unit 2-4, 64-68 Pok Fu Lam Rd, Sai Ying Pun, Hong Kong
Tel: +852 9689 5660

www.ursusfitness.com

If you want to do good to your body without compromising the comfort of your taste buds, dash quickly to Prune, the new organic restaurant in Sai Ying Pun which happens to be the sister café of Grassroot Pantry. This last point explains the closeness of the two restaurants' locations and more importantly that of the food quality. We went there for lunch and frankly we relish the dishes. This is an original vegetarian cuisine that should convince even the most resistant ones (yes gentlemen we know that you are not crazy about bio and even less when it's vegan!). The watercress soup was very tasty and the "Moroccan bowl" (a tagine with quinoa and vegetables) as well. The Greek wrap was also excellent. Don't be surprised if you doesn't see these dishes in the menu on the day of your visit: the menu changes quite regularly. Good news if you decide to make it your new canteen. And don't forget to order one of their ultra fresh fruit juices. Tell us what you think!

  	The bill (for two people):

  	Lunch A (salad + wrap): 90 HK$

  	Lunch B (soup + daily bowl): 95 HK$

  	Mean Green Juice: 48 HK$

  	Mexican chocolate tart: 58 HK$

Total: 291 HK$ no service charge however a small tip is welcome ☺

  	Organic Deli & Workshop
14 Fuk Sau Lane, Sai Ying Pun, Hong Kong, +852 2873 3353
Open Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 5.30pm and Saturday and Sunday from 8.30am to 5.30pm

  	www.prunedeliworkshop.com

  	www.facebook.com/prunedeliworkshop

It’s been a while since we’ve gone to Sai Ying Pun. Shame on us as a large number of great restaurants and shops have opened their doors during this time. Such is the case of High Street Grill, the latest addition from Castelo Concepts (Founders of Oola, Sushi O, Wagyu, etc.). Tiled floors, painted brick walls, long leather benches, wooden tables, we love the décor – very much reminiscent of Oola. The menu is vast: you have a choice between salads, pastas, pizzas, butcher’s choice of meats, tacos/burritos/fajitas and so on. We opted for the set lunch menu: the cauliflower soup was very good and the vegetable risotto was very tasty. Give it a try if you’re in the area!

  	High Street Gril

  	Shop 4& 5 on G/F, Hang Sing Mansion, 48/78 High Street, Hong Kong, +852 2559 2638

Ouvert tous les jours à partir de 8h

  	The bill (for two people)

  	2 set lunch : 196 HK$

  	1 Coke Light : 30 HK$

  	Total : 226 HK$ + 10% charge

  	http://www.casteloconcepts.com/locations/hong-kong/high-street-grill-hong-kong
