Edit - January 7th 2018: this restaurant is now closed

After Frites, Tapeo and Chicha, the group Concept Creations presents to you Souvla! This Greek restaurant in Lan Kwai Fong is one of the new autumn addresses that is getting a lot of attention. And rightly so! The interior design is atypical and doesn’t stand out as particularly Greek… But the impeccable service and above all, the excellent cuisine won us over! If you are coming for lunch during the week, there is no question about it, go straight for the buffet! On the bar are delicious salads, stuffed grape leaves to die for, tender meat marinated to your every wish (your choice - chicken or beef) and desserts that are as indecent as they are succulent! On the menu, you’ll have to see what tickles your taste buds: pita sandwiches, salads, meat or fish. At any rate, don’t miss the tzatziki! For those ladies and gentlemen stuck at their desks, don’t worry ‘cause you can order a Classic Bendover Box, their greekstyle version of the bento for take away! However, to avoid any disappointment upon arrival, think to reserve ahead of time. To make life even easier, Souvla take reservations by text messages. No way to miss out!

Souvla

1/F, Unit B, C , D, E, Ho Lee Comm Building, 40 D'Aguilar Street, Central, Hong Kong, +852 2522 1823 (Texto: 9285 8846)

Open every day from noon to midnight

Facebook page

www.conceptcreations.hk/souvla
You can feel that we are excited and you are right because we are still licking our lips! If you love oriental pastries, you have come at the right time. Hurry up to order and devour your favorite cakes. To our great delight, Yasmine, originally from Algeria, left the finance sector and has returned to her first love, cooking. Her passion is a family story. At home, and forever, concocting pastries is a way of life, to welcome or meet again around a nice mint tea and discuss about anything and everything! “My mother who is very attached to traditions, always kept a box of biscuits for unannounced visitors. Serving coffee with store-bought cookies was just unconceivable for her!!!” Yasmine tells us. Basically, we like the character and love her treats. Never mind our backsides, they will get over it. As long as we are indulging ourselves and our stomachs are happy, we are in heaven. So thank you Yasmine! The little extra? Many of the cakes are flour-less and butter-less (almonds naturally contain high-quality fat). So it’s gluten-free and lactose-free. She can adapt the ones that contain butter for lactose intolerant and Jewish customers.

To order gazelle horns, Baklawa, Arayech, Samsa and many more delightful sweets, feel free to contact this golden chef, none else than Yasmine.

The price? 20HKD/ piece

yasminepatisserie@gmail.com
yasminepatisserie.blogspot.com/p/oriental-delights

Sumac. Does it ring a bell? This is the name of a shrub and a fortiori the name of the spice obtained from its seeds; but for us it is above all an address that we recommend! A few steps from the bustling Lan Kwai Fong lies this amazing Lebanese restaurant. You see the big turn on Glenealy? Well here it is! So next time, ask the taxi to stop by and just enjoy Sumac dishes. Mezze are just delicious. We feasted with hummus, falafel, tabbouleh and baba ghannouj. You can keep on sharing mezze with your friends or otherwise skip to main courses. We recommend you the "lahem meshwi”, beef skewers served with rice pilaf. A delight! Notice to the greedy ones, go for the plate of "baklava" as dessert. A treat! And most important, we conclude by some honey by spoon. No waste girls! Chocolate lovers will be tempted by the "autumn chocolatte" which is not bad either! And to ease our conscience, we end with some mint tea. Inside or in the small courtyard located behind the restaurant, it’s sure you will enjoy this address. So yes, we all tend to be a bit careful before Christmas holidays ... But it's definitely worth to put our diet on hold for a dinner at Sumac!

 Sumach

G/F, 8 Glenealy, Central, Hong Kong

 (852) 2147 9191

Open Monday to Saturday from 6pm to 11:30pm

Bar open Monday to Saturday from 6:30pm till late

 $$-$$$

www.sumac.com.hk

Tonight, head to Morocco! Teleportation does not exist but thanks to the Kasbah team's talent, you will have the impression of being in Marrakech, Essaouira or even Casablanca for one night only!

Discreetly located on Arbuthnot road, this location is a gem. From the decoration to the cuisine including the reception, Kasbah has everything right! The many lanterns hung from the ceiling, pouffes and woven cushions, hookahs at the bar (or on the tables depending on the hour!), the oriental music, it feels like you are in Morocco. Choose the coffee table for more conviviality. As far as the cooking is concern, it is a delight! We share mezzes for the pre-dinner drink. Hommos, falafel, tabouleh, zaalouk. Everything is delicious! We recommend the prawn couscous which is a delight. To finish, let yourself tempted by a mint tea with some Moroccan pastries. After that, it is time to pass by the Medina, the Kasbah Bar.
