Spring has sprung, the weather is not yet too hot and humid here in Hong Kong and unlike many countries we are still allowed to enjoy dining out (for how long?) but advised to being careful and make sure and stick to social distancing … many very good excuses for enjoying al fresco dining, don’t you think? We’ve rounded-up our fav terraces in Central where to get some fresh air in the balmy Spring.

 Café Claudel

Our Top 5 al fresco dining spots in Central
Sitting in the historic setting of Tai Kwun, Café Claudel offers a short but straight to the point menu of French classics served in the Heritage Centre’s main courtyard. Think Snails, Nicoise Salad, Morteau Pork Sausage and Croque-Monsieur.

Colette’s (Fringe Club)

Another restaurant set in a historic landmark, Colette’s (named after local actress and artist Colette Koo) first served as a dormitory for local workers of Old Dairy Farm Depot before being the Fringe’s Club’s office then a photo gallery and now a artbar. But did you know that on weekdays, the artbar was offering a vegetarian lunch buffet (HKD 118 for unlimited buffet)? It has been one of my secret hole for a few years now with its little quiet terrace.

Duddell’s

Located on the historic Duddell Street, one Michelin starred Duddell’s is definitely a landmark of Hong Kong gastronomic scene. But did you know that you could also now enjoy the restaurant’s refined but authentic Cantonese cuisine in a more casual way thanks to the introduction of two new all-day set menus served at the salon or terrace on fourth floor?

Enjoy a balmy business lunch or a nice leisury weekend treat on the chic tropical terrace while digging-in Chef Li Man-Lung’s classics. The All-Day Dim Sum Menu (HKD 238) includes Truffle Fried Pork Dumpling, Crispy Barbecued Pork Bun and Duddell’s Shrimp Dumpling among other delicacies. The All-Day Set Menu (HKD 368) is available to order for a minimum of two guests who will be treated to the over yummy Barbecued Pork and Crispy Pork Belly and Diced Cripsy Chicken among others.

All-day Dim Sum Menu and All-day Set Menu are exclusively available at Duddell’s 4/F salon from 12pm on weekdays and from 3pm on weekends.

La Rambla by Catalyuna

Our Top 5 al fresco dining spots in Central
I do love la Rambla’s Spanish fares packed with Mediterranean flavours and love it even more than you can enjoy them on the beautiful and massive terrace overlooking the Victoria Harbour, pretending you are sunbathing in the Spanish sun. Paella definitely doesn’t taste the same when enjoyed grazed by the sun and overlooking the water!

Louise

Our Top 5 al fresco dining spots in Central
Recently awarded with a Michelin Star, French restaurant Louise doesn’t only shine thanks to its food but also thanks to its beautiful interior design (it was actually included in our Top 5 insta-worthy restaurant interiors in Hong Kong). The main stage is the first floor of the restaurant but did you know you could also enjoy drinks and nibbles at the ground floor breezy patio? Think artisanal cheeses, French cold cuts, oysters … and do not miss the very pornfood Louise’s Signature Croque-Monsieur (HKD 198) featuring black truffle, Brisson ham and Saint-Nectaire cheese.
