You just had a little one and you’re flying overseas for Xmas and NYE? Keep cool, would it be for 12h or 2h, this has to be fun and pleasure only. Holidays mean no sress. No way it will start like a nightmare. Thx to Gallia d nits very good advices, flights will become a baby game.
  1. It could seem obvious, but PLEASE, book a direct flight if possible. It is really worth the added cost.
  2. Of course, don’t forget to book the baby cot. It has to be done when you buy the tickets, as early as possible. It is such a great bonus, it would be a shame to miss it. You will be able to walk, relax, eat your dinner and watch a movie while your baby’s asleep.
  3. Change the diaper just before you board on the plane. The best being in the boarding room. This would avoid the bad surprise just when you start to take off and will be stucked in your seat for at least 40 minutes. We cannot say the tiny bathroom in the plane are the most comfortable  to do so.
  4. Give the bottle or breastfeed during take-off and landing will avoid ears trouble. You and your baby will think of something else then the ambiant stress.
  5. Don’t forget to keep the main accessories with you and easily accessible. But don’t bring too much. 1 or 2 extra clothes, 1 toy is enough (paper cups, flyers, keys can become toys in a minute), favorite teddy, 1 extra bottle, 2-3 diapers, eye drops for dry eyes and a small sample of moisturizing baby cream.
  6. Don’t make it sleep just before. If he can stay awake, it’s better, he will fall asleep more easily once in the plane. Most of the airports have a playground, very convenient to keep them busy.
  7. Feel free to call the stewards and hostess as often as you want. They are usually well-trained and will take care of your baby when you want to go walk or to the washrooms. They also often have small toys they can give.
  8. Last but not least, the best way to help your baby feel good is to be relaxed yourself. Plane trips can become a great adventure, an exceptional experience, a funny games for your little ones.
So now, please just enjoy and be ready for perfect and relaxing holidays!
