QMO: great wines meet perfectly paired dishes

December 8th 2016

By Delphine

Opened a few months ago on Ship Street, this small little bar have appealed me since then. Beautiful photographs on the red walls, relaxed and cool atmosphere, nice smells and good wines on the tables, this one had everything to please me. I’ve booked, went…. and will go again shortly!

The concept is very simple : well-done Mediterranean recipes with good-quality products, paired with selected glasses of wines. For every dish on the menu, a specific wine is suggested for a few dollars more. The menu 3 courses + 3 glasses of wines for 388HKD only sounds perfect. I’ll go with that when my husband prefer to choose A la carte. Let’s start with the Hokkaido Scallop trio combo and its glass of Sancerre. Grilled, mousse and Tartar, the 3 of them are delicious. Following is the grilled king prawns with basil butter, perfectly paired with a Chardonnay. To end, the steak with mushrooms and mustard sauce, very simple but very tender, is pleasant with its Côte de Provence. On the other side of the table, the octopus carpaccio and the seabass seem to please my husband.

A very enjoyable spot, and an even more enjoyable bill!
