My positive thinking advice as a Sophrologist: how to get “un-angry” in seconds

April 19th 2017

By Céline Pellarin

You feel your mood is turning fool, kids pushing your buttons again, another nasty comment from your boss, socks lying on the floor once more? You sense the discomfort, tightness, resistance in your mind and body arising. And before you know it you explode: moaning, groaning, yelling, hurting, you know too well… Shortly after, you feel ashamed, realizing how disproportionate your reaction was. You blame yourself and it takes hours for your good mood and self-esteem to be back. Does this scenario seem familiar?

The simple helpful question to ask yourself when you feel anger is arising.

When you feel your lid is about to flip, ask yourself this simple question: ”Am I the only one facing this situation?”. Am I the only one with kids pushing their mums’ buttons, having difficulties with her boss, sharing her life with someone who does not pick socks from the floor? Etc… The answer is always “No”!

Why does asking yourself this question help?

When we are caught up in a difficult situation, we tend to zoom on it. We seem to be unable to step back and take perspective. By including others, we realize we are not alone, and that this unpleasant situation is part of a human experience we are numerous to share. In other words, we are forced to consider the situation with wider angle. It certainly does not mean that we would not like the situation to be different.  Yet it gives us the possibility to act with greater wisdom (and efficiency) to change things.

You are part of a large community of women who understand how it feels, support you and have your back.

Try it today. You'll be surprised how happier and powerful you feel when you make yourself un-angry. Imagine that extra dose of energy and time you’ll gain. How could you use it?

Wishing you a more peaceful day,

Celine

Sophrology is similar to mindfulness. It works on the basis of being in the present moment, however, it is more focused on relaxation and feelings of pleasure. Very well established in France, yet fairly new to HK, Hong Kong Madame is happy to share more French positive vibes to help us go through our busy lives feeling a little more relaxed and happy!
