Beauty Tips : put some sun in your mane !

This summer boycott the hairdressers and go « au natural » ! Pick your ingredient of choice and follow the recipe for hair that will impress  even Tony&Guy ;-)

Chamomile has anti-inflammatory properties that softens dry skin, soothes irritated eyes but more importantly in this case, lightens the colour of your hair.

The recipe: pour hot water into a cup with 4 to 8 chamomile flowers (or a spoon full of dried flowers).  Let it infuse ten or so minutes. Filter. Apply to hair.

You can also opt for the mask option with essential oils : in a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of sweet almond oil and 15 drops of chamomile essential oil. Apply to your scalp and rub into hair all the way to the tip. Leave it 24h before rinsing.

Honey contains a natural discolouring agent that has the amazing ability to give highlights in two to three different shades! And it’s really nourishing for hair, so you get the added benefit of a hair treatment (great for dry or damaged hair).

Recipe: in a bowl mix 4 parts honey to 1 part mineral water or cider vinegar (to soften the honey). Using a brush, apply the mixture to dry hair from base to tip. Wrap your hair up in plastic film or a shower cap, leave on for an hour. Rinse with warm water and then shampoo and condition your hair. Honey acts slower than other ingredients so if you want to speed up the process add lemon juice.

Speaking of which, Lemon. Here’s a little lemon potion that works wonders. If you want to go from brown to light brown, light brown to blond or blond to even more blond, it’s perfect!

Recipe: Squeeze the juice from 3 lemons and mix in a bowl with ¼ litre of warm water. Pour the mix into a vaporiser (that can be bought at Sasa). Over dry hair, spray the lotion on your entire hair and comb to make sure you apply it evenly. Leave it on 2 hours. Rinse. Dry. Start over. Rinse well and then apply a nourishing and moisturising hair mask. For best results we recommend to repeat the process once a week throughout the whole summer.

To highlight and care for hair that’s damaged by sun, sea or pool, here is a winning combo: Cinnamon/honey/argan oil

Recipe: Mix a tablespoon of cinnamon powder with 4 tablespoons of honey and 1 tablespoon of argan oil.

Apply the mix to damp hair and comb to spread evenly. Leave on over night (or a few hours if you feel your scalp getting sensitive) under a shower cap.

Last tips for extra highlights?

For brown highlights, recipe: pour the equivalent of 2 coffee cups (cold of course) on your hair. Comb. Leave for at least 20 minutes.

Gold highlights, recipe: infuse some black tea. Let it cool down and apply directly to hair. The effect won’t last long but it works really well.

Because you’re worth it:-)
