Alvy's, the best pizzas in Hong Kong
By Lily
Call me Donatello! I am such a Ninja Turtle… I could eat pizza every day.
However, since I have been in Hong Kong – a foodie heaven when you can eat basically EVERYTHING – I have never found the pizza of my dream. Not so easy to find a really good pizza in the 852…

And then Alvy’s has opened!  This new cool restaurant in Kennedy Town offers “Italian-NYC atmosphere” (do you know what I mean?), a cool facade, a massive wood bar, the oven called “Big Red Bitch”, lovely staff, good products and delicious pizzas.

I have started my dinner with some noshes to share. The meatballs are so good, and I have loved to (re)discover the “latkes”, these traditional Jewish potato pancakes served for Hanukah. Yum!

How do you recognize a VERY GOOD pizza?
My 3 rules are the following:
  1. Real mozzarella
  2. Tomato (pulp or nothing!)
  3. A sourdough base homemade and crusty
I have ordered the Alvy’s Classic – tomato, mozzarella and basil pesto. Verdict? It is all good Alvy’s! That’s the pizza I have been waiting for!

On the spot or take away, I’ll be back and more adventurous to discover the other pizzas of the menu: the spicy Ma-La-Di-Da or Forte Greene all green with pesto, asparagus and mushrooms.

Alvy’s is also a craft beer heaven and a cocktail bar. Long life Alvy’s!

For two people:
Latkes – 78$
Meatballs in Sunday Sauce – 108$
Pizza Alvy’s Classic – 108$
